Summary: More uninformed coverage of the topic
Review: Once again we have another person that knows very little about computers or the industries they run coming out with a book of the impending doom. Mr. Polier lacks the basic technological background to seperate fact from fantasy so he's at the mercy of the few "experts" he talked with.

Though his concerns may be sincere, there are better books out there by people that have a much better grasp of the real situation.

Summary: More uninformed coverage of the topic
Review: Porlier's little book is a good manual for the average, non-technical reader. It clearly and simply explains the Y2K problem and what might result from it on 1/1/2000. The author takes the worst case scenario and tends to be somewhat alarmist, but as he says, it's best to prepare for the worst. Porlier offers a complete survival plan in case of a total breakdown in government, basic utilities and communication. He has good advice on stockpiling food, clothing, medicines and other essentials. He warns you not to count on your check and your medicare payments and he reminds you to copy important documents - something most of us would have forgotten. He even covers toilet problems, no small issue. Porlier provides extensive checklists of things we may need if the worst comes to pass. I think, however, his faith in public activism is a little naive, but then I may be overly cynical. As a practical manual for surviving a potential disaster, Y2K is a handy book to have as we approach the millenium.

Summary: Short of trying to create chaos
Review: This book coverd alot of topics to the point of becoming outlandish and almost alarming. The follow through research was weak. This book was written for a "Misery Loves Company" society. Look for something more realistic!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Positive and practical, recommendations and action steps
Review: This book is a balanced, reasonable approach to planning for emergencies. It is very readable with many positive and practical recommendations and checklists. I am ordering over 100 copies for distribution throughout our companies.

Summary: Helped me get through Y2K!
Review: This book may have saved my life! Why? Because when Y2K came, I was ready! And you know what? My family survived! Many may say that I may have survived w/o reading this book...but you never can be sure, can you!

I suggest you buy this book, too! Cause Y2K may be over, but, really, how ready are we for Y10K? The time to start planning is now!

Summary: Informative and very well organized.
Review: This is a great book. Everything you need to know, in an organized fashion, from A-Z. My family will be prepared for January 1, 2000, thanks to Mr. Porlier.

Summary: Bwahahahaha!
Review: Very funny! I can only imagine how stupid the people who shelled out money for this must be feeling right now. But Jesus, how braindead would you have to have been? I mean, REALLY: "staying warm?" "accessing cash?" "Coping without utilities and transportation?" Come ON! Do you people ever take it into your heads to actually THINK about something before mindlessly jumping onto the ol' bandwagon of mass hysteria? Good lord, that's amusing.
