Summary: Not worth the paper on which it is printed
Review: The book is based on an interesting idea with even more interesting implications. Did Christ's power come from his genetic makeup or from his spiritual nature ? Would it be ethical to delve into the DNA of the Messiah if one had access to it ? If one were to share uncommon genes with the Messiah, would that mean that person is also a messiah ?

All these questions stem from Cordy's unemotional and unexciting narrative, but the book itself has no value other than inspiring the reader to ponder over them. The attentive reader will find that the author never bothered to attempt to contemplate more than superficially the ideas contained in his book and so it ended up full of serious gaps. It's no more than a thriller, and a poor one at that, which leaves one wondering why the author should even have bothered to address such interesting matters if he had no intent to pursue them.

It reads easily, that's true, but only because it lacks substance. What can I say ? Well, I can say that there are far better ways to spend your time than reading this.

Summary: not recommended
Review: The Miracle Strain has a subject that can't fail to fascinate people. However, it also has an author who enjoys writing about blood, torture and killing, as graphically described as possible. The positive idea behind the book gets completely destroyed by the explicit, extreme negativity in some scenes.

I believe authors have the responsibility to do something positive for the world. Books don't have to be about nice people who do nice things. But when books deal with negativity, they should not make the reader disgusted. The negativity should be described in such a way that it gives the reader the feeling that he wants to do something positive himself.

After reading some of the passages in The Miracle Strain, I didn't feel this. I only felt disgusted.

Michael Cordy chose a good subject for his book, but he spoiled his chance to do something positive with it.

Summary: An interesting paradox.
Review: The Miracle Strain seems to open a whole can of worms upon its reading. The book brings about a strong ethical question; is it all right to search for the body of Jesus? This question is answered by many people in many ways throughout the book. The main character, a doctor, believes it to be the only way to cure some of today's worst diseases, i.e. by finding the only perfect human being. His arch nemisis answers the question quite simply, "Why else would a mortal search for the genes of God? If not to become God himself?" The book is a very creative journey, and an excellent first novel. Although some parts of the plot could be considered a little far fetched other pieces make up for it. The Miracle Strain is a good book, well worth the money.

Summary: A book in which I had to strain my eyes from closing.
Review: The thing that I liked about this book was how well-described the characters were. All of the main characters were described with such detail so that you can get a mental picture of what they may look like in real life. The things that I did not like about the book was that it was very boring and slow. This book did not interest me in any such way and there was not enough detail in the events which occured. There was so much jumping around from place to place which made it slightly confusing. I wouldn't recommend this book to anyone because it was boring and didn't keep me wanting to read on.

Summary: Fantastic plot with unusual turning points
Review: There are many problems with this book. It is obviously a first novel which was not adequately edited by either the writer or the editor. However, the story he tells is worth ploughing thruough and his inventiveness saves the day. More frightening that anything in the book is the reaction from Christians who appear to be afraid of any ideas that don't jibe with theirs. Reviews from the radical relgious impelled me to go out and buy this book. Backfired on them!!

Summary: Bad book
Review: This book has everything except a plot. Actuly I would recomend you read it just because it will make you thoroughly enjoy the books you read afterwards. The story is confusing with unbelivibal practical funny plot twists. I am a si-fi reader and this book gives a bad name to science fiction. Only read with book if you are looking for a strange comedy. Not a si-fi book. At the end the book there is some sort of explotion that took me 5 times reading it through to understand what happened and then I could not belive I had wasted my time. Please spare yourself.

Summary: Excellent! Could not put it down
Review: This book has everything: murder, mystery, ancient sects, ruthless assassins, a plot to invade your dreams - you name it, it's in here, and all this from a new novelist. What more can I say?

Summary: Good book with original plot
Review: This is a good book with detailed explanation of how DNA works. Easy to read and a very original plot. Very interesting characters used with ample description.

Summary: I've read worse.
Review: This was a pretty good story, but it was just that- a story. I had a hard time believing what was going on. I'm certainly not a member of the medical profession, but I felt like quite a lot of the jargon was a bit beneath my reading level. I also felt that the general twists of the plot were beneath my reading level as well. It could have been a bit more suspenseful. While I appreciated the author not droning on with too much useless character development, I wish he'd have developed a secondary character (Maria) sooner than 3/4 of the way through the book.

I also found a serious plot flaw. I won't go into it because if you read the book and don't notice it, the book will be much more enjoyable. However, it is the main reason I'm giving this a 2 star rating. I thought the flaw was insulting to the reader.
