Rating: Summary: Mentally Chilling like a movie could never do visually. Review: My review is of the Blackstone-Chronicles CD-ROM adaptation. The stories the inhabitants of Asylum tell you about Blackstone are so chilling. A movie has yet to have done this for me. I never heard of the books, but the CD-ROM has introduced me to them and to John Saul. Now I cannot wait to read the book in the complete form.
Rating: Summary: loved the book it had alot of twist and turns Review: i liked the end of the book and i could not wait to read the next part of the series. most of all i liked the use of items that where connect to the past and presented a problem in the future.
Rating: Summary: Suspenseful, psychological chiller! Review: After reading this I wished I had another dose to fill my pallet! I ate it up! Leaving me with a feeling of perhaps, I lived in this fictional town, yet something was missing. All I could do was hear myself saying "Mr. Saul..I'm stll hungry!..Please make some more of that delicious thriller!"
Rating: Summary: Excellent book! One of his best! Review: Ths first John Saul book I've ever read was Sleepwalk around a year ago, and I've been hokked on John Saul ever since. I've read his latests ones, but his earlier novels Cry for the sinners and Here Comes the Blind Fury are a bit hard to find in Perth, but overrall, The Blackstone Chronicals was very good.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining, a good idea, but I saw most of it coming Review: I picked up "Blackstone Chronicles" from a bookstore, not because I had heard anything about it, but because I wanted to read some good horror. Now, having finished the book, I can say that it was well worth the buy. A good idea, an excellent setting and it made the hours pass by rapidly. The downside was however, that the foreshadowing gave the game away from early on. Still, I am now hooked on John Saul and will be on the look-out for his other novels.
Rating: Summary: This was one of the best series I have read Review: I think he did a good job on this. I couldn't put the books down once i got them. They were very suspenseful and I do hope he does something like this again.
Rating: Summary: Entertaining....But, Too Predicatble Review: This is the first John Saul book I have read, and I chose to read the serial thriller in its entirety rather than in pieces. I liked the developing of the history behind the Asylum while weaving the story of the town and the history it had experienced. I did not like the story being too predictable. Oliver's headaches and some of the background on him seemed to give away the story. It seemed like there was no guessing to the outcome. Overall, I enjoyed the book, but felt that the ending was weak. I think the ending could have been developed better.
Rating: Summary: An excellent reading escape... Review: From the moment I picked up the book, I could not put it down. I found myself reading more and more of the book everyday, trying desperately to find out what (or who) was next. This reading experience left me feeling as if I were there, in the flesh (crawling flesh, of course!). Therefore, making this book that much more enjoyable. I enjoyed dangling on the line between the known and the not-so-known, the real and the not-so-real. Nice and scary...
Rating: Summary: excellent Review: I am a huge fan of John Saul. This series of books kept me hanging til the very end. I have yet to read a John Saul novel that has disappointed me. The Blackstone Chronicles is a must read for any horror fan. When your done with these chronicles and are wanting more I highly suggest ALL other John Saul novels. You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Great Thriller, Nicely Done! Review: This book was excellent! It ranges from being a supernatural horror story to a psycholocial thriller. It speaks of ghosts not only in the normal sense, but also those ghosts which we all carry within our minds and dark family closets. The ending was a tad bit weak, but overall this is an excellent book well worth the read.
