Summary: VERY DEEP
Review: This book was very deep. The book is about a young girl, who is sexually abused by her mother and father, not mention she can not read or write, she will try to help herself by moving out of her mother's house. I will not tell more about this book but it is a 100% must buy. You will cry about some of the things going on with this poor girl if you are sensitive.

Summary: Oh My GAWD
Review: I read this book last month and I still can't get it out of my head. Can life be this cruel to one person? Unfortunately yes! There is no fairy tale ending and for that I am grateful. How many times have you read something and everything all of a suddenly starts to go right? Well you won't find that in this book. This book is so hurtful and mind boggling that it literally will leave you speechless. I usually hate books that leave you wondering what happened to this character or that character because this book does that to you but not because the story is incomplete but because you really want to know how this person is going to survive. Sapphire has done a wonderful job of writing this book, Thank You.

Summary: So Real, So Raw
Review: This is a wonderfully raw story of the affects of abuse on a very young girl. Precious learns so much in a relatively short amount of time. The story is graphic, honest, visually and emotionally real. Knowing the affects of abuse on children, I saw in this story the patterns abuse victims suffer through.

To think, if there was not that one teacher who took time to nurture, care and teach Precious, what would her world be like? It is sad to think that in these times, Precious' story is not unique. Her mother's reaction and contribution to the abuse is not unique. Sapphire reminds us that the abuse is real and we must acknowledge it and finds ways to discourage it.

The story makes you laugh and cry but it does not allow you to give up hope. I recommend this story to everyone to read and absorb, then maybe we can save a child's life.

To Sapphire, thank you for keeping it real!

Summary: You Can't Forget It
Review: Warning. This not a fun book. The heroine goes through all kinds of graphic hell. After reading Push I felt like taking a bath becuse you really do wade through the mud. Push is not a great book but it does have powerful emotional punch that has stayed on my mind long after I put it down.

Summary: A moving and eye opening book
Review: Push isn't the kind of book I would normaly pick up, Yet it was spoken very highly off so i gave it a go for, and loved it. I found teh book of a young women trying to turn her life around. With eveyrthing going on in her life it isnt easy to try to make it, yet even while she is getting ready to have another child, to make it a total of two. With all this going on her mother isnt of any help but you learn that she has the heart and the want to make it and she will. I would no suggest this book to young people or to the easily upset. The book opened up my eyes to a whole no world and the feeling that sometimes people just need a little support to make it. I recomend this book, even if with a bit of warning.

Summary: Moving, a true eye opener
Review: I found this book to be moving, as the book tells the story of someones, hard life and how she plans to make her life better for her and her unborn child. Even if she is finding it hard to make it with the child she already has and a mother who is of no help and only makes life harder. The books is a powerful eye opener, to people who dont know what a world is like where you cant read, and your parents dont want to help you get by. I felt the need to want to help people more then ever after reading this book, it made me almost see that sometimes all someone needs is a little help to make it. If you dont mind a little bit of shock, this is a great moving book to read.

Summary: Book Review "PUSH"
Review: Book Review

You complain about how your boyfriend broke up with you or how your parents are on you because they don't let you go out. You think you have problems, but you have no idea. When you finish reading Push you will compare your life problems to Precious Jones', and you will realize you have nothing to complain about.

Precious is a high school student who's hiding her problems from everybody. She has one child and another on the way. The father of the child is her stepdad. She is alsobeing molested by a close family member, and, she can't read or write. After years of hiding from these problems, she's makes a resolution to learn how to read and write. This book reveals her struggle to become literate and have a normal life.

For instance, Precious says,"I get confuse i hate him, but my pu**y be popping, He say that big mamma your pu**y is popping. I hate my self when i feel good." Here Precious is remembering her confusion when her stepdad forces her to have sex with him. I got hooked on this book because I'd never read anything with profanity or explicit sexual behavior. But Sapphire includes these because she wants the reader to experience how life isn't always cookies-and-cream.

Both teens and adults readers will learn something from this book. Teens may learn that hiding your problems won't make them go away. Adults (especially teachers) will learn not to ignore their students' personal problems and the signs of illiteracy.

Summary: Push
Review: ...At the age seven, Precious Jones got left back in the second grade because she couldn't read. This happened again in the seventh grade. At the age of twelve, she had her second baby by her father. Now at the age of 16 , nothing has changed for this young woman. Her father still rapes her and she still fights battles with her mother. However, all that changes when she meets a woman that goes by the name, Miz Rain. She helps Precious get through all of her mother and father's nonsense.

Precious Jones is not so precious. She can be oppositional and defiant in class. There would be times where she would explode and curse out the teacher because she wasn't doing well on a test. Even though Precious came across as being strong, deep down, she was insecure.
The relationship between Precious and her parents was very unusual. She went through her childhood being raped, beaten, and physically, mentally and emotionally abused. As a strong young African-American, Precious Jones had to find things out the hard way. Even though she did not have a strong relationship with her parents, Precious Jones somehow managed to survive their torment.
There were two main themes in this book. The first one was that there are many cases of sexual abuse in this big world that does not get reported to the police. The second theme of this is that no mater what happens in your life, you can always over come it. So, if you are a sensitive guy or woman, I do not recommend this book. If not, go ahead and take a step to the unthinkable .
