Rating: Summary: Life Changing Read! Review: I read this book in one setting! It is very disturbing, yet you can not put it down until you find out what happens to the main character, Precious Jones. The writing PULLS you into the story, it sounds as though Precious is sitting in your living room, telling her story, her language improves as she improves through alternative schooling. At times, It makes you so mad you want to throw the book across the room, at others, so sad you can't stop crying. This book will leave a lasting effect on you. It makes you realize how BLESSED you are and how you should work to give a voice to the voiceless, the many sexually and physically abused children being overlooked in this country. Although this is fictional, it is a definite wake up call that such atrocities still happen. But despite what happened to Precious, she just keeps PUSHING on in life.
Rating: Summary: A Great Book!!!!!!!!! Review: Push:A Novel is one of those books that you just can't put down no matter what. It is kinda hard to follow the dialogue, but it is a very good book. In some parts of the book it seems as if you can hear, see, and emotionally feel what is goin on. I would reccomend this book to anyone!!! This is why I gave Push:A Novel 5 stars.
Rating: Summary: This is by far the best book ever written Review: The reason why I gave this book 5 stars is because the rating scale wouldn't allow me to give it a perfect 10! If you are looking for a book by an author who puts their heart and soul into their writing then look no further this is the book that you are looking for. This is a short novel, so I read it over night. Sapphire the author, who posseses a writing style so graphic that it electrifies her readers allowed my emotions to get deeply involved in this book, I felt the pain, the anguish, the rawness and the triumphs from the main character and storyteller Precious an iliterate teenager who is "precious" in her own right. She is abused by her immoral unsympathetic parents, a mother who mentally, phyically, and spiritually mistreats her and a father who has violated and deprived her of a childhood by molesting her at a young age. As the story progresses you as the reader will notice Precious striving to overcome these heinous obstacles and becomes a heroin. Reading this book was more than just entertaining it was an experience, a raw experience that I hadn't felt in a long time from any author (with the exception of Sistah Soldier). If you haven't read this novel yet Please Please PLEASE, RUN out to your nearest bookstore and purschase this book. This book will take you through emotions like no other book has done before.
Rating: Summary: Book Review Review: Precious, who is the main character is unlikely an invisible person. She has no real attention from just about anyone. From her mother who beats her and her father who rapes her. Looking at Precious and her life gives you a message that there is someone out there going through her situation on a daily bases. I would highly recommend this book to anyone so they can get the experience of reading such a strong message. It sets a picture of how carefully parents need to take time and spend it with their kids. This book is a very good novel and is extremely hard to put down. It gets you upset, but the fascination of the story will have you never wanting to take your eyes off of it. I think it is great how Sapphire was able to think of something so traumatic and so real and put it down in a book. This book is definitely recommended to all.
Rating: Summary: PUSH Review: Push was an awesome book. I really enjoyed reading on my spare time. The only problem was it was a little disturbing. Don't get me wrong it's a great book to read but the author describes sex a little too much. Percious was an inoccent teenager who just needed to express her feelings about her getting pregnant at 13 and 15. I don't like the mother because she's mean to Pericous when it's the father's fault that she is pregnant. I would reccomend this book because it teaches a lesson. A valuable lesson. I personally think teenage girls would like the book because they can relate to what Percious goes through.
Rating: Summary: Two thumbs up!!!!!!!!! Review: This was a real good book. Percious was a good little girl her parents messed her life up. The mom was a abusive lady to her daughter. Percious's father was never there only to rape her and leave her. I recommend this book to older people like in high school because it is kind of explict.
Rating: Summary: Push Saphire to write more like this one! Review: This is one of my all-time favorite books. I bought ten copies (from Amazon, of course) to share with friends. Her precious Precious has the voice of hope and the faith of the saved. I could not put this book down and even wrote Ms. Saphire because I was so moved by this tome. I feel it is a must read and that every person who has any hope for the future should read her words. Brilliant!
Rating: Summary: Excellent !!!!!! Review: I could not belive the horror in this book.. Most importantly I could not belive I was crying over a book..this book is a must have for an avid readers collection. I finshed this book in 1 day. I have reccomended this book to all of the young ladies I know and all of them have come to me wanting to discuss this book. Sapphire has written an excellent must read.
Rating: Summary: Push Review: I LOVED THIS BOOK. IF YOU HAVEN'T READ IT GO AND GET IT!
Rating: Summary: Easy Reading, Tough Situations Review: I thought this book was absolutely fabulous. It read very quickly, even for me who is a slow reader. Push is a very good book that talks about the harsh realities of the world, especially for one particualr girl. Though the reading does go by quickly, some parts are gaurenteed to make you feel uncomfortable. These parts would include the molestation for her mother, raping of her fater, and the expicit details that are used to describe the events. The launguage is also very harsh, but almost seem neccessary to get the story across. I would reccommend it highly, but with the warning of the amount of cursing and details in Precious' abuse.
