Summary: A book that pulses with authenticity
Review: I hate to use the same word that everyone has been using, but this is indeed an extremely thoughtful book. Bradley takes us through his remarkable rise from small-town athlete to Princeton, Oxford, the NBA, and the U.S. Senate. More importantly, he fuses all that he has learned from his variegated experiences into a compelling philosophy of where we should go as a country and as a people.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Another reason to love Bill Bradley
Review: I have read a number of political books & memoirs, and I think I can count the times I chuckled on one hand. Until I picked up Mr. Bradley's wonderful, engaging, self-depricating, insightful "Time Present, Time Past."

Now, I am not saying that it is a laugh-a-minute book. Not at all. It just has the tone of reading a particularly well-written letter from a friend. Bradley is candid about his own faults, refreshingly direct about his political views and his mistakes.

The structure of the text is interesting -- it is non-linear, which makes it even more compelling. It takes the reader through a free-association voyage on the 1992 campaign trail, learning tidbits about Bradley and politics all the way.

But the real reason to read this book is not because Bill Bradley is funny (which he is) or because he can craft a good turn of phrase (which he can) or because he is interesting (which he is).

The real reason is that this book is about the essence of what American politics could be, if everyone were even half as excited as Bill Bradley. His absolute integity and leadership shine through every page of the book.

Highly recommended.

Summary: Deep thinking, exactly as expected from Bradley
Review: If you aren't serious about major social issues, this book isn't for you. Bill Bradley, in my mind, is probably the most intelligent and competent politicians to exist in any era. If there is one perfect person to run this country, he is that person. His reflections on our country and the issues that existed -- and, in many cases, still exist -- as he traveled throughout his career truly opened my eyes to things I had never really thought about. I highly recommend this book to anyone truly interested in the future of our country.

Summary: A very interesting, thoughtful book.
Review: In this book, Bill Bradley explains his path to power and how and why he left. I only wish he would run for president. The book itself is slightly long-winded, and he tends to get off the subject, however, for those who love political memoirs, this is a must have. I highly recommend it.

Summary: "The Senator, Statesman, Leader, and all around good man"
Review: In this intelligent, thoughtful, witty, and captivating memoir Bill Bradley tells stories about America and indivdual Americans while espousing his beliefs about what the nation has become and what it should be. The book transcends the traditional memoir of a politician as it chooses to speak more about the effects of policy rather than what particular policy can benefit our society. The reader feels the former Senator's compassion for the human condition and understands why he would be a wonderful leader. It is a must read for anyone who believes the hardships that face the nation can be overcome.

Summary: Bradley for President in 2000!
Review: The content of this book covers Mr. Bradley's perspective on the issues critical to a strong America. I have yet to hear one politician bring to the table the key issues (race most importantly)that we all face in this country and Bradley brings them to the forefront. He's a great individual and he's won my vote!

Summary: Time Present, Time Past is time well spent
Review: Time Present, Time Past clearly dispels the myth that Senator Bradley is an aloof, impersonal leader--as some pundits charged during his presidential campaign. Moreover, the engrossing content frequently challenges readers to ponder the profound observations offered by Bradley. Two chapters emerge from the book as particularly touching; they are the one dealing with Bradley's colorful aunt and uncle, and the one detailing his fascinating theology. Those interested in Senator Bradley's career, or those simply searching for a readable biography, would be well served to order Time Present, Time Past.
