Summary: STUNNING
Review: A rash (no pun intended) of books have appeared in recent years which take terrible epidemics as their theme, but surely this is the best. Not only is the story terrifying, but the writing is a comfortable cut above the competition, and the characters have a depth that is very satisfying. The final icing on the cake is a dark and alarming plot that is full of surprises. A great read.

Summary: compelling and addictive
Review: Before even reading Richard Preston's THE HOT ZONE, I just had to get a hold of Patrick Lynch's CARRIERS. This scientific thriller, weaving love, fear, worries and hatred into the plot, kept me in constant suspense which made it an exciting fast-paced read. With an airborne epidemic "one hundred more times more contagious than Ebola" (USA Today), breaking out in the Indonesian rain forests, only a team of American Microbiological experts are sent to investigate its source and try to keep it under control haphazardly, but only corpses and infected natives, who die in a matter of hours, are discovered with no answers to how the core of this mysterious plague is being spread. Overall, I would definitely recommend this book to anyone in search of a horrifying heart-racing, yet compelling read.

Summary: Not bad, not great
Review: Carriers is a fair-to-good biosci thriller. It is also too long. The result frustrates with its seemingly endless end-of-the-chapter cliffhangers that are never satisfactorily resolved. Another more humorous result begins on page 110 of the paperback in which Holly returns from a day exploring near her ex-husband's campsite (which she indicates is near Muaratebo on the map she is carrying). Later (about a hundred pages or so), she asks: "Muaratebo, where's that?" Evidence, in my mind, that even the author couldn't quite keep up with the endless list of characters and cliffhangers.

Summary: suspensefull mysery at its best
Review: Carriers offers a wide array of characters all intertwined in one way. There are clues and subtle hints as to the outcome and you may think you have the problem solved or know where the book is going, but at the end the plot twists and you find yourself going back to see how you missed what was so obvious now. Lynch does a suberb job at giving his characters believable lines and feelings. It is not just about the virus, or the medical part or the mystery. It is about the lives of all and all the medical mystery. Take your time and read it slowly, it's well worth i

Summary: Carriers
Review: Carriers s about a virus thet is hatching out in the Indonesian Rain Forest. The "bug" is one hundred times more contagious thab Ebola. A team of American biological warefare experts Jansen, Detroit, Kinnel are going to discover were it came from. All the clues they get are corpses and they riddles without answers. For a while they think its Ebola but it feeds on its victums quickly so its hard to track down. Will theAmerican Biological warefare experts get infected too? Or will they stop the deadly vius from spreading to a nearby city...This book is good for me because I like books with a good mystery or unexpected twist at the end.

Summary: good but needed more depth
Review: i bought this book as a holiday read and with many hours to spare i had nothing to do but to read this book the genral story line is good but there are to many characters the story lacked depth into the disease. Some of the story was to much like fantasy to be taken seriously eg.only one american team were sent to find the cause when thousands of people are dying already!!this book is a good read but don't expect a blinder!!

Summary: Not a bad summer read
Review: I enjoyed this book. Although not classically written, the plot keeps moving and doesn't bog down. The chapters are short which makes it perfect for the beach. After reading THE HOT ZONE and then Robin Cook's CHROMSOME 6 this book fits well with these two books. The plot is simple. A virus infects people in Asia and a Micrbiology team from the US investigates. There are several sub plots which sometimes makes you wonder who are the main characters. This can be confusing. I would recommend to friends.

Summary: BEST BOOK I READ LAST YEAR!!!
Review: I gotta admit that this book was a hard one to put down. Not even Michael Crichton's "The Andromeda Strain" is as good as "Carriers". Mr. Lynch has written a book where he challenges the reader to understand the effects of the virus on humans. Lots of surprises come along while the reader reads on. Hopefully, there will be a movie made out of this book

Summary: Chilling
Review: I heard this book was great. I had high expectations and (to my surprise) they were thoroughly met. This is the scariest thriller of a bio/medical kind I've ever read, and I'd only hesitate to recommend it to people with weak hearts. I was gripped completely.

Summary: Don't waste your time with this one - IT IS HORRIBLE!
Review: I just finished reading Carriers. I bought it based on the ratings of amazon.com readers but i feel the need to voice my opinion before anyone else wastes $7 on this book. The writing was ridiculous and full of lame cliches like "joey liked monkeys" (that's an actual sentence!). I normally don't notice bad writing which means that this was even worse than bad. the plot itself suffers from way too many characters to the point that you cannot keep track of who's who. the science behind the virus is flawed and the sequence of events seems to have been written by someone with zero experience with viruses or medicine. i cannot stress enough how bad this book is. DO NOT BUY IT. spend your money on one of robin cook's early books or a michael palmer one instead.
