Rating: Summary: Thought provoking! Entertaining Review: The ties that bind Emma, Hutchinson, and the rest of the great cast of characters sends a scary message that truth may be stranger than fiction. What if our youth were really being planted with the AIDs virus while in juvenile detention programs, and worse, what if the President and Surgeon general were all in on it? The racial overtones were subtle enough to concentrate on the true story. It story was intense and entertaining. I read it in two days, and thought about it for weeks afterwards.
Rating: Summary: This book is an unrecoginized classic. Review: This book is an overlooked classic. It should be required reading in Black Studies,Political Science, and other programs addressing issues related to contemporay race in America. It provides a futuristic impression of a society in which a curious nexus has been obtained between race, crime, and politics.Elements explored by Lamar are similar to those addressed by Ricard Wright in his classic work"The Outsider". Lamar ,however, places his work in a contemporay context. The reality of which gives the reader much to ponder. This work must recieve of all ratings.
