Review: Brillant. So nice to read someone so direct. It's funny, beautiful, scarey, truthful all at the same time

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: A True "Must Read"
Review: Great! A real Page Turner One of the best books I've read in years.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Encore Jake Lamar! Encore!!
Review: I bought this book from the bargain table just for a "subway ride home read". I had no idea how compelling this novel would be. It so accurately reflects what we often suspect goes on in our very presence and yet, its futuristic. Its scary and yet so provocative that you can' t put it down. Come on Jake, how about a sequel?

Summary: Good But Slow
Review: I loved the plot, the characters, the descriptions, the truthful content of this controversial book. But I found myself wanting to skip chapters at a time to get to the real plot. Lamar took a little too long to tie the main characters together, but overall I enjoyed the book, and I loved the ending.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Powerful!
Review: I will start by stating that I'm not really into politics and, therefore, the first chapter or two, I was thinking that this book really wasn't for me. But, I'm happy to say that I stuck with this book and this was a powerful story of how things COULD be in OUR world today. The politicians in this book were portrayed so realistically that I could envision things that happened in this book happening in our society. Jake Lamar's writing is fantastic and he really told an unforgettable story. I will definitely try reading another book by this author and I only hope it's half as good as this one!

Summary: Hard-hitting, intellectually stimulating & provocative.
Review: Jake demonstrates a rare insight into the underpinnings of societal & cultural values, as fractal as they might be, and he ingeniuosly exposes their weaknesses until they crumble. In between is a great novel filled with passion, humor, and issues that are time-sensitive (just pick up today's newspaper). Extraordinary work!

Summary: The complexities of race in the U.S. taken seriously.
Review: Jake Lamar has not written an easy book when he writes about the complexities of race in the United States. It is a book that alternates between the sad realisms of the human relations that cross color barriers and the shocking events that suddenly make perfect sense in the midst of a nation that refuses to face the question of race honestly and with compassion.

Lamar's book takes place in the future, but just barely and this close juxtaposition between where we are now and where we could be in just a short period of time makes his story even more compelling and heart-rending.

Whether there is the kind of planned conspiracy at work in the United States that this book describes is less important than the fact that there could be if we really dissect the human heart and see what Americans think of their fellow citizens based upon race. By the end of this book, the reader will be left with many stirring and troubling questions and, perhaps, if he/she is fortunate will ponder more deeply and consistently the meaning of race and its central role in our nation's history and in today's events.

Summary: You will thoroughly enjoy this book
Review: Jake Lamar's book is a great read! It's well-written, absorbing, and I found myself irritated at being interrupted as I was reading this book. My 24-year old son also read this book, and he said it is one of the best books he's read in 5 years. Set aside some hours of quiet time for yourself, because once you begin reading it, you won't want to put The Last Integrationist down until you finish it.
