Summary: Why Amy Did What She Did
Review: Amy Fisher is blunt and matter of fact about what happened, and she makes no excuses nor blames anyone else for what she did. However, the reader can understand the state of mind that she was in, and at the age she was, she was extremely susceptible to the control and influence of Joey Buttafuoco. Apparently she was molested as a child by a relative that she refused to name in the book, although her mother left her father soon after, so you can deduce from that what you will.

I also wonder how blind Mary Jo could be to Joey's repeated infidelities. In all interviews, she seemed to see only one side of the story - not her own, but Joey's. Why the blind devotion?

Summary: Here's the truth!
Review: Amy has recounted,to the best of her ability, her harrowing affair with Joey Buttafuco. He had her wrapped around his finger and he toyed with her. I can understand Amy's pain, and her book makes things clearer to see - he was at the root of this problem, though he never got blamed. Amy and MaryJo got the worst of it, but isn's that how it always turns out?

Summary: Hello? Can anyone say POSTAL? Can anyone say nutbar?
Review: Everyone involved in the whole Amy/Joey scandal is totally NUTS, and this book proves it. Whether Amy is telling the truth or not, the reader will definitely sense that the girl is not playing with a full deck. When you get past all of the craziness, this book is actually a page-turner that is impossible to put down. It's the kind of book you'll want to wrap in brown paper so people won't know you're reading it. I can't wait until good ol' Amy makes parole this June (let's hope)! Aren't you just dying to read about her tales in prison?

Summary: Not bad at all!
Review: I hated this book before I even opened the cover. Why? Because of all the bad press and tabloid rubbish about this whole Amy Fisher episode. So, like millions of other people in the world, I tended to sway over to Joey's version of the story but after reading this rather deep and interesting version from Amy's view, my mind has definitely changed somewhat. Amy does not belittle Joey as he has constantly done with interviews about her. She also writes about her childhood and is very truthful about being a prostitute etc. She was deeply in love with Joey by the sound of it while he was obviously just using her for his own pleasure. Although Amy did a terrible thing to Joey's wife and I am not excusing her from this, I can now see how she was just an immature kid in lust/love with Joey and this was the only way she could honestly see her and Joey being together forever. As we all discovered, Joey is nothing but a liar. At least Amy has been truthful from the start. I'd recommend this book just to get the real facts and not Joey's blown up version of events.

Summary: Kudos for the book
Review: I loved this book; It capsized the socio-economics of being a 70's born- growing up in the 80's and trying to survive the 90's kind of world in which I am all too familiar with. What I don't like is yes Amy was only 17 when she commited the crime and 16 when she got involved with the "older man" who mentally is probably about 18 himself but the fact of the matter is, she did something "very bad" Pier, I have looked at your webpage and I found it provocative and imformative but you're deifying Amy. She is not a God. She is a very "confused young girl" And lets face it at 16 and 17 we know right from wrong. All in all tho I like this book. Of course when I was 12 I liked VC Andrews so dont take my opinion to heart

Summary: Not as good as her new book
Review: My what a few years does for Amy. Her new book is so much better than this one. I think we can all forgive her tresspasses since Joey's wife has forgiven her.

Summary: Amy Fisher's Explosive and Endearing True Story
Review: Sheila Weller helps Amy Fisher remember and recount the entire story that landed Amy in prison, and made Amy Fisher America's most infamous teenager in the most covered story ever that made a nation run wild, and created an unprecedented media frenzy that earned her the title: "Long Island Lolita" . Sheila's appreciation of the Long Island Culture helps the reader understand Amy's entire story, and makes the reader sympathize and believe Amy Fisher's endearing true saga. The highly publicized 1992 case portrayed Amy Fisher as a manipulative prostitute. The case was interpreted as a typical example of a teenager gone bad: murder-for-hire, sexual favors, prostitution, extra-marital affairs, obsession, suicide, it had all the great themes to make a great book, and Amy Fisher's sincereness as well as Weller's great research and writing skills make "Amy Fisher: My Story" , the best book on Amy Fisher's True Story. It explores Amy Fisher's childhood abuse and cites experts on the matter to explain the unexplainable: Why a 17-year old girl became so involved with an older lover, she sold her body and was willing to kill.It is an A+ in every way

Summary: An American Teenage Tragedy
Review: This book is great to show parents of teenaged girls who are going through dificulties at home. Whether parents want to know it or not, any 16, 17, or 18 year old girl can become involved with an older adult man. It doesn't take long for a child to get caught up into the adult world. All the things that Amy went through with Joey and the Escort Service can happen to your sister or daughter. Thank God her mom and new lawyer stuck by her and is helping her to get on with her life after prison. Good luck Amy!
