Rating: Summary: I have bought it over 5 times and still don't have a copy! Review: This book is truly a 5 star book. I have yet to meet to someone who does not rate this book at 4.5 stars or higher. I have lent it out to many people. Many of those people lent out my copy to some one else. My only complaints - it ended, and Mr Saint has no other books,
Rating: Summary: My #1 favorite of all time Review: This is an incredible book. Written for visual people. It's witty and very descriptive. I almost feel like I was invisible.
Rating: Summary: Terrific! Review: This is the only book that has ever inspired me to write a review and it is one of only a very few that I've read more than once. I'm not surprised that nearly everyone is giving this a five star review. The one person that didn't gives it a rave review as well! Read it, you'll love it, too.
I sure wish Saint would write another.
Rating: Summary: H.F. Saint holds readers' attention firmly Review: This story of a normal man who becomes invisible, is filled with one suspensful scene after another. This novel is much like H.G. Wells original The Invisible Man, yet it has a twist that incorporates it into a modern day society. In the original Invisible Man, H.G. Wells makes the main character (the invisible man) face everyday living problems as he lived in a small town over a hundred years ago. H.F. Saint expresses similarity to H.G. Wells by making the invisble man face everyday problems except in a modern day world. The events in which he encounters are far more critical to his well being than H.G. Wells' novel. First of all, H.F. Saint makes his "invisible man" a result of a nuclear explosion. After his disappearance (because of becoming invisible), he is hunted for by the government. He leaves little clues behind to keep the government on his tail, and then turns the situation around, confusing everybody in opposition to him. It becomes really fun to watch the invisible man fool everyone and it becomes interesting in predicting each outcome to all of the suspenseful situations. The writing style of H.F. Saint really keeps readers on the edge of their seats. I truly enjoyed reading it and consider reading it again! I definitely reccommend it for those who like suspenseful novels.
Rating: Summary: Very, very clever! Review: This will also go on my list of best-ever favorites. Who would have thought that being invisible would be so complicated! His description of first waking up and finding himself apparently suspended in mid-air will remain in my memory forever. It would be nice if Saint wrote more books.
Rating: Summary: Loved It Review: What an adventure, following Nick Halloway as he lives the life of an invisible man on the lam. There is never a dull moment! There are certainly problems associated with being invisible; things I never thought of. I am amazed this is Mr. Saints' only endeavor. His writing is crisp, funny, exciting, and it's hard to put this book down. As an avid reader, I am often disappointed upon completion of a book. I was sorry when this one ended. Perhaps a sequel, Mr. Saint?
Rating: Summary: Unique and insightful Review: What would it really be like to be invisible? Mr. Saint takes a look at the real problems of being invisible and he does it in such an entertaining way that you will have a hard time putting it down. This book has been making the rounds at work and everybody loves it. A well deserved five stars.
Rating: Summary: Lost but not forgotten Review: While living in Japan in the early 90's, I received this book from a friend, and read it numerous times during my 2 1/2 years there. As I haven't had the chance to read the book in recent years...can't dig one up in libraries or bookstores--though I live in Guam, which IS a little off the beaten path...I remember it as being very thought-provoking--most notably for its treatment of all the DIFFICULTIES, rather than on the ADVANTAGES that one would usually focus on. I was impressed with how the author dealt with the technical facets of the condition--for example, walking in the rain would create a "rain sillouette," and walking across any pliant surface would leave visible footprints. A little side note: visiting friends in Japan after a 5-year absence (while laboriously making my way to Guam) I went back to my squallid little apartment there for the SPECIFIC PURPOSE of trying to locate this book, which I'd inexplicably left behind. Good book, love to read it again.
Rating: Summary: A dazzling one-hit wonder! Review: Why, why, WHY, Mr. Saint, haven't you written another book? I read this lovely, entrancing story when it first came out in paperback (1988?) and it was the first time i was ever inspired to write to an author! (Unfortunately, the paperback publisher refused to forward the letter and returned it to me.) I thought the movie was okay (i anticipated it for long enough!) but certainly your talent for prose can never be fully appreciated in any other form. PLEASE grace our boards-and-bricks with another novel, H.F!
