Summary: SO much better than the movie . . .
Review: I read this book about 10 years ago, then loaned it to a friend who loaned it to his daughter. The friend lost the book and I've been hunting for a used copy ever since. I'm done with poking around in used bookstores with capriciously arranged titles and am happy to find a copy here. The book was so preposterous but authentic that, instead of dismissing it as science fiction or fantasy the reader empathizes with the main character, wonders how he's going to get through one challenge after another, and genuinely cares for his plight. This is no walking-through-walls ghost we have here, this is a man who is there in substance but who just cannot be seen. He must open a door to go through, his body leaves an impression when he lies down, his orange juice gurgles visibly into his digestive tract because it, unlike him, is as visible as if it were sitting in a glass on the reader's counter. Even his own dawning realization of what's happened to him, how it's manifested itself, and what pitfalls stand ready to trip him up has the reader making those discoveries right along with him. I've yearned to own a copy again and this time I'll be very cautious about whom I led it to. And I'll read it again before I do. In fact, I do believe I'll order two. Just in case.

Summary: A Favorite I Recommend to Everyone
Review: I read this book when I was in my teens and re-read it again as an adult. If you, like myself have always wished to have that one super power of being invisible, you must read this book. I know, I know, you've seen a million movies on invisibility and there are multitudes of books with this as the adventure theme. But, my friends, this author really took the time to imagine what it would really be like to be invisible. His descriptions of that character being invisible in his environment are amazing. Definitely a fun adventure book! Whoever stole my original copy....I want it back! ;-)

Summary: I agree
Review: I'm with the majority on this one. The story is exciting, original, funny, romantic, scary, just great. I'm hanging on to my hardback copy. The movie, with Chevy Chase and Daryl Hanna, wasn't bad, but the book was better.

Summary: One of my all time favorite books!!
Review: If you've seen the movie, forget it; it doesn't compare in the slightest sense to the book. I couldn't put this book down it was so engrossing and believable. Great descriptions and fast paced. I could read it again and again!

Summary: I despise science fiction and I adore this novel.
Review: It has been years since I read this novel, which I now learn is out of print. The first thirty pages suggest a comic masterpiece; the mood darkens and what enravels is a horrifying tale of solitude fired by an startling imagination. This is the finest written and most absorbing, little-known novel I have ever encountered.

Summary: GREAT! I loved it!
Review: One of the most interesting books I've ever read. It's a shame that the movie was so lousey.

Summary: Absolutely spell-binding and thrilling
Review: One of the very best, most enjoyable and involving books I've ever read. I must confess to having read it cover to cover three times, as well as dipping into it occasionally for the sheer pleasure. It is masterfully-plotted and engagingly written. (Incidentally, the movie made from this book was not worthy of it). Now, please, please, please, Mr. Saint, give us another such feast!

Summary: A great book that is hard to put down
Review: The main character in the book becomes invisible, due to a nuclear-related accident, a preposterous, but, in this book, almost believable possibliity. Daily life for Nick (the character of the title) becomes one challenge after another, which repeatedly leave the reader on the edge of his seat in anticipation, dread, and sometimes disbelief. The "cat and mouse"-like chase between Nick and agents from an unnamed government agency further heightens the suspense. Nick doesn't want to be a laboratory guinea pig; the agents just want to "help" him, albeit in light of their own agenda. A nice part of the book is the improbable but happy meeting between the invisible man and a woman at a party professing to her listeners that she believes in ghosts because her grandmother saw one. She turns out to be exactly what Nick needs to help him along in life and deal with the agents. I'm so disappointed that the author, H. F. Saint, does not have any other published work. I thoroughly enjoy this book every time I read it.

Summary: Why isn¿t Mr. Saint better known?
Review: This book is absolutely amazing. He has dealt with what at first appears to be a tired, dated, over-used subject, and given it originality and humour. The film was useless, but the book is astounding. I have read it six or seven times now and every time I notice some other clever touch which makes me admire the author even more. The cleverest scene is where Halloway is in MM's reception and the he asks the receptionist where to go: 'The door to my left', I said, pointing to the door on my right 'No..yes..not that one' she says Brilliant
