Summary: It wasn't much of a story.....
Review: This book really stunk. It had cardboard writing and the plot moved to a predictable climax that was super boring. The 1992 movie based on this book, which starred Chevy Chase and Daryl Hannah, was actually better then the book. It had some energy going for it that made it an under-rated movie.

Summary: One of my all time favorites!!!
Review: "Memoirs" is so intriguing as to be nearly impossible to put down. The plot is so different from any I have ever read. It manages to combine humor into a highly developed fantasy / thriller combo. I must also reccommend that any who really enjoy this book also check out "Replay" by Ken Grimwood. It will become another favorite.

Summary: Thank God for boring moments...
Review: ... because if it weren't for the inevitable boring moments during a vacation in Portugal I never would have bought this book. 24 hours after it's purchase I was reading it a second time, and following that at least once a year. Some book are like old friends; You're happy to see them again and there is almost always something new to what you say to each other. I am happy to be able to call this book "a friend".

Summary: What everyone else said
Review: Add my review to the "5 star list" and my name to the people who want another book from this marvelous writer.

I read the amazing reviews for this book, and had to get it in 1987. Since then, I've read it every year. It's an incredible, true to life tale of an invisible man.

I simply love it. Harry F. Saint, get back to that typewriter!

Summary: Absolutely engrossing... have read it several times.
Review: As other reviewers have already mentioned, this book leaves you waiting for the next book by Harry F. Saint. Several reviewers have suggested that H. F. Saint is a pseudonym; perhaps it's the other way around. One Harry F. Saint is on the Writer's Guild Council. Could "Saint" be his real name, and he publishes more under a pseudonym?

Summary: The best!!!
Review: At this point it has pretty much all been said. I have a few random thoughts: To this day I have only read it twice. The last time was 12 years ago I am saving the next reading for a special occasion. I still have a copy and lend it to friends who complain that they have nothing good to read. It wins them over and they invariably ask for something else by HF. Alas there is no more, I sadly have to tell them. I get depressed when I think of all this time having gone by and still no sequel. Nick's closing message that Jenkins is once again closing in on him haunts me to this day. Maybe someday we will get what we are all craving, more from HF Saint. I am sure none of us our holding our breaths.

Here's to you HF, May you live a long and prosperous life...cheers!!!

Summary: Memoirs of an Invisible Man
Review: Because I generally select books based on at least two rave reviews, I read this book as soon as it hit the book stores almost 20 years ago. And I was thrilled to find it every bit as engrossing and entertaining as promised. The Invisible Man may be a shop-worn theme, but certainly not this invisible man nor this treatment of his life. As I read, I was continually mesmerized by the amount of thought that went into this book: what happens to the food he eats; how does he pick up objects with no relative depth perception. . . I just reread the book last week and was again affected by its magic. One of my favorite reads ever, and I'm an avid reader. What happened to Harry Saint? I heard an interview with him from, I believe, 1987 in which he said that he would be writing a new book -- nothing having to do with invisibility -- that would take place in New York. Please let us hear from you, Harry! Don't be put off by the abysmal, nay criminal treatment of your book in the horrid Chevy Chase movie. How could they! Hollywood is really missing the boat if they don't remake this movie with current technology, forgetting the neanderthal comedic bent of the first effort.

Summary: IT IS NOW TIME FOR A SEQUEL...
Review: Both book and movie would greatly benefit from a new edition: the book being out of print, the movie terribly made. With today's new virtual technolgies, the sky is the limit! The story could really be a fantastic vehicle for exciting movie emotions; pity it wasn't properly exploited.

Anyway, where the hec is the Saint?
Can't he write something else just as enticing? Why not? Is he enjoying his enormous royalties still (it's been almost 20 years now)? Haven't they finally dried out? Come on, come on: the Saint could surely write a sequel, updating Nick's situation with equally amusing and thrilling events. Or find some other challenging topic: the Saint is without doubt a master storyteller.

I'm waiting... together with some other million readers...!

Summary: Still good after all these years
Review: Finding this book on the "New Arrivals" shelf at my local library (must have been 1987, since that's the copyright date!) led to a couple of nearly sleepless nights until I had finished it. "Memoirs" is a huge adventure from beginning to end, and due to the skill of the author, it's completely possible to suspend belief and enjoy the ride. This book is one I'll always be sure to hang on to -- I've read it more than twice, something I almost never do. Find this book and read it. You're in for a treat!
