Summary: Blind Faith fact or fiction
Review: McGinnis has been sued in court and had to pay out big money for being dishonest with Jeffery McDonald, leaving McDonald to rot in prison for a crime he very well may not have committed. If you read any of Joe McGinniss's books be aware they may be strictly fiction. Hugh Reeves

Summary: Riveting Tale
Review: The best wat to summarize this book is to say that you feel the emotions of everyone involved. The author does a great job providing readers with insight into the family. This makes you feel even more sorrow for the boys as it becomes obvious that their father was guilty of arranging the murder of their mother. All at once you can feel Marshall's desparation as the authorities close in, the hurt, anger & confusion of his sons, the zest & zeal with which the prosecutor pursued a conviction, & the seeming regret of a co-conspirator. One thing that I would have preferred - picturesof some of the main characters. I always was curious to see what they looked like. Anyoneknow what happened to the character they called Ferlin?Seems to me that he led a dangerous life.

Summary: A disturbing, heart-wrenching tale of greed, lust, murder
Review: The Marshall family of Toms River, NJ was not as it appeared; the successfull, hard-driving, and seemingly devoted husband, Robert Marshall, was secretly cheating on his wife, Maria; he was seriously in debt, which he blamed on her overspending, and he was living beyond his means. Did he ever take full responsibility for his choices? No, he blamed it all on his devoted, loving wife, Maria. But how to solve a problem like Maria?

Keep purchasing life insurance policies on his wife- easy for a man in this line of work. Total value of insurance? a bit in excess of $1.5 million--the last policy he took out the last morning of Maria Marshall's life. Then connive and plan with two yokels from Louisiana to "off the lady" in a dark, secluded picnic spot off the Garden State Parkway, while on route home from Atlantic City. What does Rob Marshall get out of this? A bump on the noggin and $1.5 million in the insurance payoff, instead of a wife who WON'T give him a divorce so he can shack up with his mistress.

From the murder forward, the reader is taken into the increasingly dark mind and "soul" of Robert Marshall, whose monumental selfishness, basic dishonesty, and self-aborption in his own problems, creates havoc for his 3 sons, who still grieve for their dead mother, who was also their best friend and biggest supporter.

I found the investigation into the crime almost as riveting as reading about the aftershock to the 3 Marshall sons.

I felt anger, disgust, outrage at Robert Marshall's behavior, not just towards Maria, but also with his sons, after their mother's death. My heart went out to Roby, Chris and John, who, in effect, lost BOTH parents that dark September night in 1984. Maria was murdered, and Robert's "character" was shown to be hollow, as he begged and prodded Roby to lie on the witness stand to cover his father's "sorry ass."

Fortunately, the jury saw through the ploys, and Marshall was convicted of conspiracy to commit murder, in March 1986. To the best of my knowledge, Marshall STILL sits on death row today.

I've read this book numerous times, and it STILL has the power to haunt me today! Excellent!
