Summary: Just what you could have expected from Archer
Review: If you want to read this book you must be one of this three kinds of people:
1)Archer-nut - a person who reads everything by this author. It's a must for you then, so you must read it anyway. You just should know it's as good as other Archers.
2)fun of spy and thriller books - you must have read "The Day of the Jackal" and you look for something as exciting. You must be warned, that it's much different. The story is propably similar but Archer - in stead of details - has a much more extended plot. And it's not so serious, so if look for first-hand experience in dealing with assasins it's not suitable for you.
3)reader of everything - if everything, so why you read it.

Summary: The History Teacher Strikes Back!
Review: Not his best, although still a very good read. However, one thing that scared me most in the whole book...Mark Andrews is my history teacher, and the description that Archer wrote is far too similar to my teacher! Plus, my friend fancies him, so we all had a good laugh about that one!

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: As a sequel no... one its one OH YEAH
Review: Originally this book was written with Sen. Edward Kennedy being the President, it was written in 1977 when the possibility was still there. Later Archer reworked the book to fit an existing character. I have yet to find the book as written with Kennedy as the President. This is a short little read (compared to the long novels of K&A and the Prodigal Daughter) that is well worth it. Taken on its own it is a great spy novel. FBI Agent Mark Andrews has just six days to locate a would-be assassin, and he's feeling the heat. Shall We Tell the President is a fast passed book that leaves the reader wanting more.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Not Archer's best but still a suspenseful enough read
Review: Sequentially, this book seems to follow Kane and Abel and The Prodigal Daughter. However, it is more a thriller rather than drama as in the other two books. The President is now in danger of being assassinated and things must be done fast. The narrative is pacy and never tedious. Archer's gift of plot and fluent writing keep us turning the pages once again.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Thrilling till the very end, and the last line is perfect.
Review: Shall we tell the president is a fabulous book. you can't stop turning the pages and will probably read for long hours into the night. archer keeps the atmosphere of suspense and tension throughout the book. in the last chapter, he creates a twist and finishes it with a rare style of class. a great book i would recommend for anyone.

Summary: The History Teacher Strikes Back!
Review: Shall We... was an interesting example of how distrustful even people in our nation's top law enforcement agency should be of their counterparts and coworkers. While the plot thickened and twisted throughout the book, I would have liked more FBI interaction with the Executive Office, Secret Service, etc. The last couple of chapters quicken the pace of the book as everyone gets involved to save the country's first female president.

Summary: Can't put it down!
Review: Started the book between juice and ceral. Closed the book at 9:00 PM and didn't even realize my eyes were tired until I was finished. Never read a book cover to cover in 1 day. Archer is a master at story telling and hid the ending to the very end. I give this 6 stars.

Summary: Jackie O said "Oh No!"
Review: The original 1977 Viking printing of this book created a storm of controversy. Jackie Onassis, at that time a book editor at Viking, quietly stated she would resign if the book, a fictional tale of an assassination plot against President Edward Kennedy, was published. Viking published the book and lost the editor. Fumbling with a tide of public backlash on both sides resulted in Archer's retelling of the tale, substituting a woman president instead of Ted in subsequent printings. Although the book is a better than average thriller, the simple facts behind the publishing makes it a worthwhile read.

Summary: Shall We Really Tell the President?
Review: The time was March, 1983. The location was at Washington, D.C. And the primary objective was to assassinate President Edward Moore Kennedy. With just one clue to go on from a wounded Greek immigrant, Special Agent Marc Andrew had a week to prevent assassination. Losing two best friends of his, Marc was determined to find murders along side with the director of FBI's cleverness, together they were going to pin down these criminals. Believe it or not, the ending is very surprising written. The best features about this book were dates and time when the events took place, mystery with humor, and an unbelievable ending. Therefore, if you are an X-File fan and enjoy surprise endings, you would not want to miss this book. ("Shall We Really Tell the President" should be the title of sequel series to catch the man behind all this since he escaped successfully from the crime scene) Note: This refers to first edition.
