Rating: Summary: Brutal Read? Review: Tired plot, shallow characters.. unless you're looking to fulfill some literary deficit, who cares? This book is more fun than Disney on steroids! I've been glued to the pages since I turned open the cover! The plot is far from tired. It twists and turns more than three rollercoasters scotch-taped together and the duplicity of the main character is invigorating. So, maybe some things become far-fetched, but, hey! Isn't this fiction? If you're looking to while the weekend away with a good book, pick this one up and schedule Saturday out, it'll be all the time you need to devour this excellent dish!
Rating: Summary: Rollin' over Reality... Review: Well, by now you got the idea, the plot. What I liked was the precision of the adjectives, the honesty of the sexual tension, the grit of the crashes, the nastiness of the dialogue, the enjoyment of life on the edge, the adrenaline rush, the sugar highs, and the believable denouement. Fiberglass schmiberglass.Everyone in my house read it like it was icecream on a hot day. I am handing it around to my friends here in Berkeley. Yes, I know Joe Quirk, argue with him frequently, think he's a classic writer, constantly picking your brain, absorbing new ideas all over the place. Enjoy yourself. It's a great read, but make a space. It could interrupt your work day.
Rating: Summary: Brutal Read Review: With the exception of some nicely turned phrases, this book lacks just about everything else. The plot is tired, the characters shallow and the chase sequences are unbelievable. The slang used in the dialogue is overdone, which slows the reader down. I can't believe all the 5 star ratings this book is receiving. It was predictable every step of the way. I couldn't wait to finish it, but not in a good way. Sorry Joe Quirk, it just didn't do it for me.
