Summary: Sniper
Review: The book begins with Bob Lee Swagger, a retired USMC sniper, hunting deer in the woods near his house. After, he returns to his secluded trailer in the mountains near Blue Eye, Arkansas, to find business salesmen waiting for him. They claim to be from an ammunition company called Accutech. They took him to their company's shooting range, and preformed tests using the company's new bullet. One exorcise has Swagger shooting from over 1400 yards, fourteen football fields, at a moving target. Soon after, he realizes that they set up the same scenario in which he was shot in Vietnam. The salesmen soon claim that they are not from Accutech, but are CIA. They tell Swagger that they need him to predict where a sniper from the Soviet Union will shoot at the President. He runs figures for weeks, then he predicts where the sniper will set up in New Orleans. He remains there as part of a SWAT Team, as a lookout, to capture the sniper. Just as the sniper takes a shot at the president, he is shot through the chest by the CIA Agents. He manages to limp out of the room, being lucky that the bullet did not hit any organs. Just outside the house, an FBI Agent, Nick Memphis, knocked him down. Swagger managed to grab Memphis's gun and took his car. He drove straight a river, and drove the car right into it. As he was lying on a log, in the middle of the river, he realized what had happened. He has been set up by CIA Agents, yet he now believes they are not CIA. He now realizes the only way to clear himself of killing the President is to find the men who set him up. The rest of the book is very exciting and very fun to read. Once you read this, you will agree that this is one of the best books ever written.

Summary: Hunter "Nails" This One!
Review: Bob, the "Nailer" is a protagonist that we can all relate to, respect, and understand. He doesn't leap buildings with a single bound unlike some overdrawn hero-types; he has his problems, but you're gonna like him as the "star" of this well-written, tightly wrapped thriller. This is by far my favorite Stephen Hunter novel--to date. It may be a wee bit over the top, but not only will the suspense keep you turning the pages, but the court room drama ending will not disappoint. All of the characters are well-drawn and you will get swept into the action, rooting for Swagger until the very end... Swagger does deserve to have his time of "redemption" and he gets it in spades... Go on, do yourself a favor, read this book.

Summary: Great Plot
Review: I read a lot of action/adventure books, and Stephen Hunter is one of the best in the business. Point of Impact is probably his best work. The characters are believable, and sympathetic. The plot is clever, and not at all predictable. There are many unexpected plot twists, and the book is so compelling, I could hardly put it down. I rarely read books more than once, but I have read, and thoroughly enjoyed this one three times. The author has clearly done his research with respct to firearms and the Marine Corps Sniper Program. Everything about the book was beliveable.

Summary: My Favorite Fiction Book of all Time!

Summary: Hollywood wake up call...
Review: Start with this one and you're hooked. You'll be buying 'Dirty White Boys' and 'Blacklight' the next day! Someone in Hollywood MUST bring this story to the screen. I lost sleep staying up to finish this one. I am now a die-hard Hunter fan.

Summary: Best action novel ever.
Review: *Point of Impact* is the best modern action novel I've ever read. And I HATE GUNS! Bob and Nick are the two most likeable flawed heroes ever. I cheered and laughed out loud several times.

Summary: NAILED BY THIS BOOK!
Review: This is the only book I have ever read more than twice! This book has captivated me for many years. I am here right now to purchase a copy for a good friend of mine. This is definately something to share and pass on to others. I have read them all Ludlum, Clancy, Grisham, Clavel and many more and this one is the best I have ever read. This book should definately hit the silver screen.

Summary: Best book I've ever read
Review: The plot is complex and interesting without being confusing, the characters are all fascinating and, except for Bob Lee, believable (how do you make it through a 500 page guys-with-guns novel and only get shot twice?). But believable or not, I still loved him. The action is neither so spread out that the book falters, nor is it all saved for the climax making for an overly long read. Furthermore, the technical detail actually improves the action, rather than slowing it down. The mystery ("Rom Do" and all that) is wondefully intelligent and beautifully solved. If you don't at least TRY to read this book, you're nuts. And after you're done this one he's got about five more crazy books for you to read.

Summary: Story with an impact
Review: I had read 'Time to Hunt' and thought it was a good story, however I didn't really care about Bob Lee Swaggers' character. In 'Point of Impact' I gained a better understanding of who Bob Lee Swagger is and grew to like him. It was interesting how this story was a prequel to 'Time to Hunt'. It was also better.

My only thought is that the ending would/could have been more dramatic if left before the final 100 pages or so.

Summary: An Loc revisited
Review: After re-reading this novel more than a dozen times, I've found only one glaring error - An Loc was in III Corps - the nearest mountain was Nui Ba Ra. I know, I was a "gun driver" there for a tour - compliments of the "Horse". (1st Cav - reference Quan Loi)

I have to thank Hunter for changing my wife from the "Just how many guns DO you need?" to the "Buy me one of those!".

Thank you,thank you,thank you!
