Summary: Great book, good miniseries
Review: I read this book years ago when I was spending time in LA. This is a great book. The author does a great job of character development and he invents a wide variety of characters to paint. Of course all these characters could happen in the adult fantasy land of LA. You have the kept woman, the prim and proper WASP wife, the actor who will do homosexual favors, as well as an assortment of scum Hollywood players. With a wide blend of characters, Dunne proceeds to create chaos at every turn while challenging each character's view of the different classes of people generated.

Read this if you like stories of wealthy people, Hollywood, or murder mysteries. It's a classic.

Summary: Lifestyles of the rich, yet morally bankrupt...
Review: Speaking as one who never breathes the rarified air so ably described by Dunne in Inconvenient Woman, the book would be interesting merely for the glimpses it provides of the social and financial elite. However, this interest could not sustain itself for long. Fortunately, the book also presents well defined characters in deeply moving interactions with each other. This is specifically true of Flo March. Dunne says of Flo that most people who meet her like her. Add me to that list. I'm still trying to determine just how Dunne so thoroughly engaged my affection for his heroine.

Summary: Awful, don't bother
Review: This book was a complete waste of time. The story is boring and you don't care what happens to the characters.

Summary: Dominick Dunne at his best!
Review: This has to be one of Mr. Dunne's best books. Having read all of his books, I think this is the best. It has many fascinating characters and true to his style, he definitely knows how to keep his readers interested. If you love Mr. Dunne, you will love this book.

Summary: Dunne at his Best
Review: This is one of my all-time-favorite novels. The characters are so intriguing that they become immediate friends. The story is loosely based on the Alfred Bloomingdale/Vicki Morgan affair, and that makes this book even more interesting. The book is great and the made-for-tv mini-series was great. A must read.

Summary: "Couldn't put it down"
Review: This is one of several Dominick Dunne books that I have read, and definitely one if his best. The characters are so vividly written that you feel you are voyeur in the lives of these rich and fancy people.Dominick Dunne writes with such flow that you really hate when you come to the end of the book. Definitely a must read for Dominick Dunne fans like me.

Summary: My first Dunne book - definetly not my last!
Review: This was my first book by Dominick Dunne, so I didn't know what to expect when I ordered it from Amazon. I was totally thrilled with my choice! Once I started reading I didn't want to stop. (The dishes waited, so did eating).

I don't consider myself a literary expert, just a go to work, come home type of person, so I don't like books that take 10 years of english classes to understand. This one hits the mark. The book was easy to follow, not so many characters that you loose track of the scene or have to back track to remember who one was.

The story is about a very wealthy man, his wife, his mistress, and a murder. Sounds common, but each chapter leaves you wanting to start the next immediately. Dunne added excitement where I thought it needed it without alot of bad language and detailed sex sceens.

This book has it all - love & romance, mystery, happiness, saddness, etc. READ IT

Summary: A "Can't Put Down Book"
Review: War andPeace and Crime and Punishment-10-hence the reason for the -8-rating. Mr Dunne understands these people and their motivations. He did an excellent job in character delineation! Ruth Roberts
