Summary: The Berenstain Bear's Nursery Tales
Review: This is one of my favorite Berenstain Bears' book even though it does not specifically involve the Bear Family. On the second page of the book is a picture of Mama Bear sitting on a rocking chair, sewing, and beside her lying on the bed next to the fireplace is Papa Bear and Small Bear. Papa Bear is busy reading bedtime stories to Small Bear. The three nursery tales are : "The Three Bears", "The Little Red Hen" and "The Gingerbread Man." Each tale is beautifully illustrated, well-told and humourous. Some of my favorite scenes are when Baby Bear discovers Goldilocks sleeping in his bed, the looks on the duck's, cat's and pig's faces as they say "Not I" whenever the little red hen asks for their help, and the way the little old woman, the little old man, the long-eared rabbit and the little brown bear chase after the gingerbread man while he sings "Run, run as fast as you can! You can't catch me, I'm the gingerbread man!" On the very last page of the book is a picture of Mama Bear leaving the room with her sewing in one hand and a candle in the other, as both Papa Bear and Small Bear have fallen asleep next to the warm glow of the fireplace.
