Rating: Summary: DEMILLE'S VERY BEST!!! Review: This is one of my all time favorite books. Great story line and so believable. I also enjoyed the insight into Russia's history and people. A great read!!!
Rating: Summary: a Cold War page turner Review: A little dated now, but gripping, and just plain a fun read. It would have been a great movie (Harrison Ford would've been great as Sam Hollis; I had cast Jodie Foster as Lisa), but history over the past decade has made it a lot less topical. (we're about 2,143 crises removed from this era). A thrilling page turner that actually gets BETTER as the story goes along. I had had it on the shelf for years; only picked it up after finally reading the General's Daughter. This is the superior book.
Rating: Summary: Thoroughly captivating and fast paced thriller. Review: I've just lost an entire weekend because I couldn't put this book down. It met my criteria: spys, dangerous foreign setting, fast paced, unpredictable ending, and the more I read, the faster I had to continue. Nelson DeMille has become a "must read" for me. I was thrilled to find this book after having read Plum Island, Gen's Daughter, and Gold Coast. It is my new favorite.
Rating: Summary: A Classic in the Genre Review: A read this book years ago, and I still consider it one of my favorites ever. Very, very dark descriptions of the Soviet Union, and action that caused me to read the last 200 pages when I should have been at work. This one belongs on the same shelf with LeCarre's Spy Who Came in from the Cold and Follett's Eye of the Needle. A classic.
Rating: Summary: The best book I have ever read. Review: I read a book a week and have read every one of Nelson DeMille's books as they came out. Charm School is by far the best, though everyone is great. I am surprised it took this long for one of his books to become a movie (General's Daughter). Charm school would be a great movie. Read them all.
Rating: Summary: Exciting, chilling, and can't put it down Review: This is action packed, suspenseful, and full of enough details to transport you to the Cold War Soviet Union...your pulse races during the chase scenes, you feel bruised during the fights, and you feel sorry for the citizens. I wish he were a non-stop writing machine!
Rating: Summary: Smart, Energetic, Gripping!!!! Review: Demille is a 'smart guy' and astounds us with his captivating mysteries and thrills. The dialogues he delivers are superb, very catchy and lively. It leaves you with a grin or an outright laugh... I can't get enough of this guy! He's straight to the point and very clever. For anyone who wants to be "tickled," his books are right for you. Get you a little mind action!
Rating: Summary: DeMille's Best Work!!!!! Review: I read this book about 6 years ago and could not put it down. It literally grabs you from the first page and continues its grip until the end! That book continues to stay at the top of my list. His other books are good and I have read them, but to me, they don't quite hit the mark. I am still waiting for another book EXACTLY like The Charm School.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely Fantastic - Cold War Thriller Review: It is a great book. I picked it up for a plane ride and could not put it down!! This book got me started with Demille and I have read them all. If they ever make a movie of this one, get Harrison Ford and Demi Moore to play the leads.
Rating: Summary: Even great for a non-reader Review: I'm not a great reader, probably only completing a few books a year. This one did the trick for me. I finished it in record time and can't wait to pick up other titles by this author. I guess he turned me into a real reader? Well-written and totally entertaining from start to finish.
