Review: A refreshing change from my life is miserable because bios that have popped up lately. Here is a man who had a tough life but knows you can entertain an audience much more by making them laugh.With several tales about his life with john Barrleycorn Mccourt shows that life truly is what you make of it. Of Course it suffers by comparison to his brothers book. In fact the only thing they have in common is they are written on paper, but it is an enjoyable story about a rogue who makes no appligise for his mistake he only admits them

Summary: an extremely witty book full of candor
Review: after reading "angela's ashes," i was interested to see how this book matched up. i loved "angela's ashes," but it was definitely depressing at times. This, on the other hand, had me laughing out loud at times because of the incredible language and interesting irish slang. this book was different than his brother's, more light-hearted, but with the same wonderful voice. Malachy is very witty, and i can see how he was so well liked in New York during his day.

Review: After reading Angela's Ashes, this book doesn't even come close to comparing. I found it disgusting and disturbing. The language used was horrific. This man comes across in this book as totally self-absorbed and self-centered. I think I could count on one hand the number of times he mentioned anyone his family.

Review: Few people can hope to experience the fun & wild times of Malachy McCourt, in spite of his underpriveleged up-bringing. His life would have been interesting enough, but his literary style is exciting, making it difficult to put the book down. His colorful descriptions put you right there with him. When he's drunk, you feel drunk; when he describes the filth and stench of a public restroom in India, you can see & smell it too! Malachy McCourt takes you on a wild ride through his life, and in so doing, he makes you wonder whether you've done enough in yours.

Review: First of all, as a recovering Irish Catholic alcoholic I must congradulate Malachy on his fine job of describing what it's like to be intoxicated. Thank you Malachy, for without your help I would never have known! Idiot! Contradiction is indeed a word not in Malachy's volcabulary, for he spends a fair amount of time bashing capitalism while at the same time attempts to make a PROFIT off of "Angela's Ashes." Frank should slap his brother up side the head for the embarrassment he has imposed upon Frank's reputation. Malachy, you are no Frank, just a pathetic self-centered drunk. Instead of writing why don't you go visit your friend Ronald Reagan. You are no friend to the proletariat.

Summary: Too little too late
Review: I admit it, I wouldn't have bought this book had it not been for "Angela's Ashes" Several pages in I realized it wasn't anything close. It's a story about a drunk who's life stories teach us nothing. Page after page of disgusting behavior you would think he would be embarrased to tell. The last two pages were so moving, yet when I closed the book it reminded me of Malachy's relationship with his father, too little too late.

Review: I BECAME VERY TIRED OF THE NAME DROPPING ... GRANTED HE WAS AN ACTOR BUT WAS HE THAT CONNECTED1 HIS DRINKING WENT BEYOND ANGELA'S ASHES.....AND HIS JUMPING THE BONES OF EVERY FEMALE IN SIGHT WAS TOO MUCH. iS THIS THE IRISH LOVING FAMILY FATHER?
