Rating: Summary: FANTASTIC !! Review: I really enjoyed this novel. Yes, the concept is a bit "out of this world" -- but Garcia really puts it together well. You end up believing everything he says, and then looking around you to try to figure out who has a guise on! This is a MUST READ!
Rating: Summary: This was one of the more interesting new ideas Review: I have always liked mystery and detective stories and dinosaurs, so when I saw the cover and read the jacket, I could hardly believe it. I really liked Mr Garcia's sense of humor. There was a clever reworking of the natural order of things that is so easily done that it really is almost believable. Wait.. did I just smell something? --- Never mind. These characters are given a personality that fits like a custom guise. I know there has to be more in the evolved brain of this guy and I for one can't wait for the next case of Vincent Rubio. Mr. Garcia is onto something, but, I think he has been eating too much Basil.
Rating: Summary: I can never look at a female Allosaurus the same way again! Review: Although it takes a slight suspension of dis-belief to accept the premise that dinosaurs faked their extinction and are wandering around disguised as humans, this book is very enjoyable. I am a dino-nerd so I also found some technical flaws, but they can be easily overlooked in what has to be the best hard-boiled dinosaur novel ever written. I recommend that anyone, mammal or reptile, who wants to be entertained read this book. This book is not a one-trick pony -- or a one-trick stegosaurus for that matter. The dinosaur jokes do not get stale.
Rating: Summary: BUY IT NOW Review: This is probably the best book that I have ever read. Garcia is the master of uniting science fiction and mystery. I am eager to read more about Vincent Rubio.
Rating: Summary: Funniest book since "Pest Control" - Laugh out loud Review: When I explained the plot to my son he said - "oh, Men in Black, but dinosaurs" - they are among us and Garcia makes it work!Don't try to read this book on public transportation, you will be laughing so hard that everyone will want to know what you are reading and the concept is so hard to believe that you may be shunned.
Rating: Summary: Sexy Rex Review: Wow. From the first line to the last, this book simply oozes charm and skill. Crazy concept, brilliantly executed, with enough twists and turns to put a snake in traction. I eagerly await Casual Rex, his novel in progress. Here's hoping it stays as fresh as the first. If you haven't read this (then why would you be reading this?), go buy it. Buy it now, find a few free hours, and read it.
Rating: Summary: Better than Rex Review: Only at the climax of the book did I realize how much I had "willingly suspended my disbelief". I was amazed that I had so easily and completely accepted the central, and really quite absurd, premise that dinosaurs could dress up as humans. That's how good the narrative is. I can't wait for the author's promised Casual Rex.
Rating: Summary: Put this book in the winner's circle! Rare & one of a kind! Review: Eric Garcia has written a fabulous, humorous and highly entertaining novel. The first page grabbed my attention and from then on I couldn't put the book down; stayed up all night reading it and when finished I wished it was longer....I am going to recommend that the English and creative writing teachers on my faculty incorporate it into their curriculum. Let's hear more from Mr. Garcia...and soon!!! (Is it possible we might find this on the silver screen in the near future? It could be quite a film!)
Rating: Summary: It's JJ Walker!! Review: Dino-mi-i-i-ite!! Aah...someone my own age, 26, who relies on his talents as a creative story teller to communicate to his audience, rather than on the pretentious appeal of post Gen-x (blech!!) cynicism. I appreciate the allegiance to the hard-boiled genre, which the author wears on his sleeve while allowing his imagination to freely stomp the familiar terra. I liked the book to start with, but became even more captivated by its affecting humor after reading an interview with Garcia on the www.anonymousrex.com web site, wherein the author seems the type genuinely inclined to fulfillment. Being pursuant of such worthwhile pleasure shows in his writing. I'll read the next book, I'll see the screen adaption, and one day -- when the franchise has been run through the plot mill's detail cog for the umpteenth installment (see the web site for Garcia's grand plan) -- I'll remark about the author, "Yeah...but I really dig on his old stuff."
Rating: Summary: Dinosaur: The Other White Meat Review: Ok, not only is Anonymous Rex a really good, witty, and entertaining book, but the author is a really nice guy too. After reading the book, I visited his website and decided to write an e-mail, lauding his book and giving him a link to my website. Not only did he take the time to visit my dinky and dorky website, but he also answered my questions and comments, such as "Where's the Beef?" and "Are you sure it's NOT butter?" I found him to be very personable and just as witty as Anonymous Rex's protagonist. In case I lost you... GOOD BOOK. GOOD GUY. BUY BOOK. <End Transmission>
