Rating: Summary: YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK! Review: This book is hilarious, I loved the concept of dinosaurs guised up as humans! It's a strange combination but it works. I was addicted from beginning to end, good plot, great concept and it is incredibly humourously told. All I can say is...I WANT MORE! Look out for his upcoming book Casual Rex. YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK, especially if you like detective books with imagination.
Rating: Summary: A great read. Review: I LOVED this book. The idea is absurd, the premise is preposterous and guess what? It works and it works well. It could have just as easily been aliens or any racial mix and the story would have been just as good. It is a wonderful, tightly written detective story with a good plot and characters you really like and some you really hate. I would recommend this book to anyone who enjoys detective stories.
Rating: Summary: So much for extinction Review: Cross an apex predator with Sam Spade, spend a lot of evolutionary time reading Raymond Chandler and you have a serviceable approximation of Vincent Rubio, the hero and protagonist of this story. But that's just a hint of the fun to come. There's action, sleuthing, wise-cracking, science, sleaze and high society along with a clever plot and our hero moves deftly through it with a lot of grace for a guy with a tail and wearing a girdle. The pre-quel, 'Casual Rex' is in the works, by the way.
Rating: Summary: A Witty, Different Sort Of Private Eye Tale! Review: The last book I read about dinos was "The Lost World". So when I saw this book and read the plot I thought I'd pass. But I decided to take a chance on the quirky tale. I'm not sorry. It was hilarious. I can't wait until the next one to come out!
Rating: Summary: He pulled it off! Review: Vincent is an unforgettable character. Who could forget a tough talking, wisecracking, disguised as a human, private investigating, dinosaur. I'm looking forward to his next case.
Rating: Summary: Only those with a sense of humor need apply Review: I'm not really into mysteries and I'm not usually into science fiction either, but I am into laughing my tail off and that's what happened with Anonymous Rex. I can't believe there's someone out there who didn't love this book. But then again, I run into these people all the time. Humorless drones. Don't know how to have fun. This book rocked, and I'll read whatever else this weird guy writes.
Rating: Summary: A literal waste of time. Review: I have never enjoyed myself less reading a book than "Anoyomous Rex". Yes the premise is very different, dinosaurs living among us in disguise, but that is the major problem, it is so totally ridiculous, that it becomes very annoying. Beside the premise, the story just is not that interesting and the characters for the most part are bland. The most amazing thing about this book is that it actually was published.
Rating: Summary: Amazing -- Can't wait for more Rex... Review: And now I'm a Rex-a-holic. Got this book after initial skepticism, on advice from a friend. And after the first ten pages, I didn't put the thing down, except for bathroom breaks and some food. Just about the funniest damn thing I've read in a long, long time, and Garcia keeps the twists coming. If you can figure out the end of this book before it happens, write me and I'll give you a prize. Wonderful book -- get beyond your own thoughts and read it now!
Rating: Summary: Fun light read Review: In a way, Anonymous Rex was a let down. I enjoyed it, but based on the reviews I was expecting to enjoy it even more. Even given the completely impossible premise, parts of it don't hold together that well. But the book by and large overcomes that. It manages to be both funny and exicting. I do plan to read the next volume in the series -- but I'll wait for the paperback.
Rating: Summary: Delightful, intelligent and thoughtful. Review: This was a very pleasant surprise. Not as gimmicky as I was afraid of. Instead I was struck by the excellent writing, crisp dialogue. Hardly recommend.
