Rating: Summary: A brilliant life and an okay book Review: Reginald Lewis had an incredible life and I wish he was better known to the public. By the time of his early death this black man had conqured the business world. The book is okay. The author seems star struck and the book is as slick as a celebrity/movie magazine. It's Lewis' official and sanitized biography and doesn't atempt to be anything more than that. Hopefully some other writer will take a crack at this amazing man's life.
Rating: Summary: "A Must Read For Everyone" Review: Some people might get taken away by the title of the book, but I recommend this for people who are interested in finance, overcoming adversity, and also those who like a good love story. The life of Reggie Lewis was like something out of a fairytale. A young kid from the ghetto talks his way into Harvard and graduates with honors, shortly after he opens a law firm, meets the woman of his dreams, and buys a billion dollar company. It has a dramatic ending, but those who know of his legacy already have a hint. So have fun with Reginald Lewis as you read the story of his life

Rating: Summary: A Great Book Review: The Reginald Lewis book has clearly become the resource to draw inspiration for all those business people who feel discouraged by the obstacles that confront them. His is an inspiring story that could serve many well and I think his saga was translated into print as best as it could be.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational Review: The story in this book is about a man determined to succeed. This is not just a business book - but rather a book about life and giving 110% effort. A fabulous and inspiring story.
Rating: Summary: Changed My Life Review: This book gave me a new sense of understanding on how one African American man can not only change history but do it with style and passion. I never new what Reginald Lewis did during the time frame he did it back in the 80's I was a young kid growing up in the south Bronx area of New York City still trying to find a role model to look up too that looked like me. I first heard of Mr. Lewis in college but still had no idea of what he had accomplished until reading his book and then hearing about untimely death some years later. I have read this book 5 times since I bought it and I get a sense of vigor every time I finish it. Not only is it possible for me as a young black man to become the owner of a billion dollar company like him but do it in a way that will make all the white guys at my former prep school green with envy. My only regret is that I never got to meet Reginald Lewis before he died. It would have been such a great honor to meet such a driven and determined man. To sit and do lunch with him at the Harvard Club in New York and just watch all around us wonder how we got there.
Rating: Summary: Very Inspiring Review: This book inspired me to believe you can do anything you set your mind to. Excellent read........
Rating: Summary: Great and undeservedly unknown Review: This book is a fitting tribute to a great, self-made entrepreneur, who set his goals on a daily basis, was highly self-disciplined and meticulous in carrying them out and above all, was highly ambitious in the best sense of the word.Strangely enough, reading through Connie Bruck's Predator's Ball, which chronicles the takeover movement of the 1980s, and contains a considerable segment on TLC Beatrice, one of Drexel's major deals, there is no mention whatsoever of Reginald F. Lewis. Strange. The writing in this book is not the greatest, and the author (not Lewis himself) has a habit of throwing around dollar words when it's unnecessary and uninformative. However, this is the only autobiography of a great man, and one that is also inspiring. Well Recommended.
Rating: Summary: This book is truly a masterpiece... Review: This book is one that motivates me. This is one of the best books that I have ever read. It truly ranks up there. Reading how Reginald F. Lewis, Kappa Alpha Psi brother, Virginia State '65, made it to Harvard without taking the LSAT, or even putting an application, and becoming the first and only person to do so, deeply inspired me. One of the things that I got from reading this book was Reginald Lewis' sense of determination. A statement that I got from this book which depicts how Reginald Lewis refused to carry his race on his shoulder also inspired me. He said " I'm not going to carry my race on my shoulder. If I can be helpful to others, that's fine, but I'm not going to do my work because I'm a role model for all African Americans. That's bunk. I'm not responsible for any body's life, I'm responsible for my life. And I'm responsible for realizing my own dreams. I deeply respect such an attitude, as opposed to that attitude which relies on black people who made it in life to carry everyone along. Overall, I found this book to be exceptionally well written. I enthusiastically recommend this book to anyone.
Rating: Summary: WOW is all I can say. Review: This book made me want to work so much harder in life to achieve my business goals. The key is fake it until you make it. No one knows you struggles unless you tell them and you can't make excuses for your life and why you have to work hard. I read it fast and read it again.
