Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Below the border adventure
Review: If you enjoy reading historical fiction concerning the final days of the Apache wars in Arizona, and resultant border crossings into Northern Mexico, into the Sierra Madres, this book may interest you.
Built into this story are numerous historical figures from Geronimo, to Gen. Nelson Miles, Tom Horn, and peripherally, Gen. George Crook. These historical men are intermingled with fictional army officers and the courier, Russ Norwood. The story is also an outdoor adventure, with tension and contentious situations between Tom Horn and Russ Norwood. And as the author states in his final notes, the day-to-day diary of Dr. Leonard Wood from the expedition underpins much of the story. This is a much better than average historical western.
