Rating: Summary: A whole new look on tupperware. Review: I cannot believe all of the craziness in this book. So many strange and illegal things happen (and are gotten away with!!!) that one could go crazy! ha ha ha My favorite parts of the book were those chapters of Peejoe's. I liked hearing about all that was happening, although all of it greatly aroused my feelings of dislike for racism. Crazy was a fast read, and a nice break in our modern novel class.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not the best Review: Crazy in Alabama was an okay book. It had many interesting parts that were entertaining, serious, and humorous all at the same time. There was, however, a lot of boring, dull parts that counterbalanced the good parts. Even though I liked the book at the beginning, I thought it was a little drug out in the end. I was ready for it to be over. Overall, I liked Lucille better than Peejoe, because Peejoe was so boring. Lucille had a lot of interesting adventures that were better to read. This book was good, but I don't think it was great.
Rating: Summary: A lot of fun to read!! Review: This was a fun book to read. Our Novels class read it and I am glad. I think it had a good mix of fun and thought-provoking moments. Lucille was hilarious relief character who was fun to read about. Peejoe was great too, but not so much funny.
Rating: Summary: I could do without the chapters on Lucille Review: This book was less-than-stellar in my opinion. I really felt for Peter Joseph in the psychotic town of Industry, but all of the misadventures of Lucille made me insane! Not even fathomably possible!! It drove me crazy (in ALabama?) to think that she was getting away with it!! Grrrr.
Rating: Summary: This was an incredibly CRAZY book! Review: This was an awesome book! It took you from Alabama to California and mixed them together perfectly. The mix between all of the characters and the conflicts in this book are blended naturally with a big twist. I would definatly recommend this to everyone, including the movie that is yet to be released!
Rating: Summary: This was so good Review: I really enjoyed this book!!!!!! I recomend it to any-one!!!!! The chapters with PeeJoe really brought you to half believe the whole book. But when the Lucille chapters come it changes. READ IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Rating: Summary: " you'll get your eye poked out!" Review: This novel was interesting and entertaining but after I read it I found myself thinking " what was the point of what I just read?". Though I enjoyed Mark Childress's style of writing and creativity, I didn't feel as enthroughled or as involved as when I read other books this year (ie. Handmaid's tale, or One Flew Over the Cuckoo's nest). This was so evidently a work of fiction and so I found it harder to let it take over my life.
Rating: Summary: Surprisingly Crazy... Review: This book shows, that you can write a book about a serious subject, namely racism in the sixties, with a funny/interesting second plot about a woman breaking free and going west. The interesting thing about the racism-part is, that you see it through the eyes of a twelve-year old boy, who does not really understand the whole issue. The whole idea is brilliant and the stories never get boring.
Rating: Summary: Fnord! Review: Hilarious! The entire tupperware concept! Genius! The ending sucked my left nut though. It didn't make sense. The plot, the scenes, the fact that it was an actual beverly hillbillies episode was sheer brilliance. But the way everything worked out in the end just plain sucked.
Rating: Summary: This book rocks! Review: I thought this book was so great! It was enternaining and educational as well. I totally sympathize with Peejoe and love Lucille. The book takes you on this wild ride and brings you full circle by the end. Although this book was not as chilling as the first two I've read in my Modern Novel class, I still think this book is of great value and everyone should read it! One last note... buy tupperware!
