Summary: Its like having Randy read you a bedtime story!
Review: I don't understand why whoever reviewed this book gave it such bad reviews. Randys voice is just beautiful and comes through great in this Louis Book. Its like having Randy sitting next to you reading. How can you not love that? Fans of Randy's and non-fans (how could you not be a fan??) will like this book. Great to have in the car..and in the house. Buy 2 or 3 cause you are going to want them!

Summary: L'Amour is Great - Randy needs more practice reading
Review: I enjoyed the story - love the way L'Amour describes the West - seems I'm learning western history whenever I read one of his novels. As a Randy Travis fan I love that voice but the volume level goes from one extreme to the other. I had to turn the volume up so loud to catch the words at the end of most of his sentences that my ears hurt slightly when he'd start the next sentence at his peak loudness. Makes for very frustrating listening - especially when driving when it's more difficult to continually change the volume. Randy just needs practice maintaining a constant volume or moving the mike back and forth as his volume fluctuates.

Summary: Louis L'amour's stories were totally ruined by this reader
Review: If you've listened to all the other books on tapes of L'amour's, then you might understand what I mean to say to this particular one. Except the Taxan accent of Travis, I think that he's one of the worst readers I've ever listened to. So slow, so passionless, so sleepy, so tiresome, so energyless...you just name it. It seems that Travis swallow couple of Valiums before and during the reading and was on the brink of losing his consciousness. That golen voice in this tapebook is just so helplessly miserable like a voice delivered by a robot. The tone and the tempo of his reading finally made me realize and understand what "Deadbeat" really means. All the characters in this particular reading book became "deadbeats" too. The stories became so tasteless like chewing a piece of cowhide. And I have to tell you that after having read most of the greatest L'amour's books, including his poems, this is the only LOWDOWN I got so far. If you want to know how, why, and what certain energetic BOOK READERs could deliver by reading from some great writers, please try that guy who read Max Brand's (or zen grey?) "Sunset Pass" or by those Englishmen who read S. Holmes books. They are just like listening to a voice piano by just a single person's vocal sounds, so vividly and amazingly delievered. If you are riding this Randy Travis horse, you might fall off the horseback and hurt yourself, because both him and you and the horse are all too tired and too sleepy. 5 Stars? For the original writer? Or for the reader? That's the question.

Summary: Another wonderful achievement by the best in country- Randy!
Review: Randy Travis keeps astonishing fans from sea to sea. Randy Travis has kept his fans on the edge of their seats when he releases a new product, and this project is no exception. If you are as big a fan as I am of the voice that got Country music to the place it is now, you will not be disappointed in this spectacular item!

And if by chance you have not already bought his "Just a Matter Of Time" video on DVD, you are missing out on so much. No one else could have done any better!
