Rating: Summary: Taking A Novel Approach to Diana's Death Review: If you are a true Diana admirer and read everything about her that you can get your hands on, this book is a must! Truly captivating! However, I was a bit concerned about the credibility of some of the sources quoted, and when I read something in the first chapted that I felt I knew not to be a true statement, I continued to read the rest of the book as if it were a novel based on fact. I enjoyed it this was very much, and didn't bother questioning details as fact or fiction after that. Thus, the four stars instead of five.
Rating: Summary: Andersen does a good job Review: I've never been one to read many celebrity biographies because I thought, "So what? They're rich; they're famous, and I couldn't care less about them." But as so many seem to think, so thought I; Diana was different. I had heard alot of talk about this book, and the fact that it took at least a year to write (so many of the others were out in a couple of months) made me believe Andersen and his reaserchers put a valid amount of effort into seeking out the facts. I liked the book. It's not a wonderful piece of literature (he repeats himself way too often. I have a bad memory, but even I didn't need to be reminded three and four times about certain events)but it suffices for nice tribute to Diana's often lonely but so generously led life. Before I read this novel I wasn't sure how I stood on the issue of Dodi's father. I didn't understand the things he chose to do in the wake of his son's and Diana's death. However, if it is true that he made it a goal to set Diana up with Dodi in an effort to thumb his nose at England, then I hope he goes to sleep at night in his satin sheets with a guilty conscience. I already knew before I read this book that people seemed to make a habit of using Diana; Muhammed is just one more added to the list. Andersen's first chapter and closing chapter (in particular)are exceptional, I only wish he had stuck to the same style for that which came between.
Rating: Summary: A pathetic pack of hersay and guesswork Review: In short this book is laughable. If the author is to be believed then he has contacts with every possible person connected to Diana and her death. If this were fiction, it wouldn't be very good fiction, as it is, it claims to be fact, which makes it laughable in the extreme. You'd be better of spending your money on Sleeping Beauty - at least you know that's real fiction.
Rating: Summary: Save your money and read the excerpt in Good Housekeeping! Review: If you've never read anything about Princess Diana, I guess this book would be pretty interesting. The first chapter is fascinating and filled with new information, but it's all covered in the excerpt in Good Housekeeping magazine which came out in late August. The rest of the book is NOTHING new!
Rating: Summary: Could change your viewpoint Review: I had imagined that only "Diana" fans would purchase this book, but after reading it, I didn't feel the same way. This book paints Diane as very much human - with frailties, faults, etc., while at the same time, elevates Prince Charles - at least gives him more credit than I used to. This book is stark in its realism and may not be enjoyed by those who have relegated Diana to someone who is other than mortal.
Rating: Summary: A book I could not put down. Review: When I reserved this book at the library, I was 72 people to read this book, I am glad that I waited, usually with my busy schedule, I take forever fo read a book, but I could not put this one down. The hospital scene in the book where it describes Princess Diana's lifeless body under that sheet almost made it seem that I was there too when it happened, it seemed to me that she was just like everybody else in some sense, This was a great book to read when you have time to yourself or on a rainy day, it makes you think how precious life is and how it can be taken away just like that. I commend Princess Diana's boys for being so brave in spite of tragedy. This is a must read for Princess Diana fans.
Rating: Summary: Totally enthralling Review: Princess Diana was a wonderful, caring human being. She gave the world so much, yet she endured much as well. The book was well written, and a must read for everyone. I felt as though I was right there with her on her last day. I read the book in a day. I just could'nt put it down unitl I finished it. I am glad that I have it!!!
Rating: Summary: Very Fascinating, kept you wanting to know more. Review: This book was definitely one of the best. I couldn't stop reading it, and in fact I was done with it in two days. It was touching to read how she felt about her children, and to know the love they shared.
Rating: Summary: Execellent!!!! Review: I couldn't put it down. The detail of what went on in the hospital after the accident was very moving. It changed my feeling towards Prince Charles, knowing how he was moved and upset by her death.
Rating: Summary: Worth what I paid for it! Review: A prior passenger had left (probably intentionally) a copy of Anderson's work in my airline seat pocket. With nothing else to occupy my time on a long flight, I read the book. I can't imagine anyone other than a devout royalophile enjoying this tabloid-esque sort of missive. Strictly for "Enquiring minds."
