Summary: The best she's ever written!
Review: I've read most of her books, but this one just touched me for some reason. What a wonderful story. To see a man and woman so dedicated to one another was overwhelming. And, what lucky little children! I loved this book.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: One of my ALL TIME favorites!!!
Review: I, too, won't go into the story since so many have already. Great romance with a great story line. You can't help but feel for the characters. The setting is during WWII. Will has just gotten out of prison for a causing death to a woman that was an accident but was charged with murder. He just wants to settle down in a community where he can forget his past and move on with life- but the past seems to constantly follow him, causing him to move from community to community. Will has such a sweet caring heart but needs someone to give hime a chance and believe in him. Elly has been the talk of the community all her life due to her grandparents religious believes and family tragedy. She is a pregnant widow with two little boys to raise and no one to fall back on. She is a "plain-jane" with an inner beauty that needs someone to care and nurture. Elly has to really work at feeling secure. They find out that they both need each other in different ways. It is during a time when life was hard and a lot simpler- when people reached out to one another. A wonderful story that you won't be able to put down and it has a little bit of everything in it. You won't be disappointed, promise!!!

Review: I, too, won't go into the story since so many have already. Great romance with a great story line. You can't help but feel for the characters. Will had such a sweet caring heart but someone to believe in him. It felt good to find a story where the herione isn't gorgeous- but yet a rather plain girl with a inner beauty that needed someone to care. Elly had to really work at feeling secure. They both needed each other in different ways. I have always been interested in the 1930's, 40's, & 50's since that was when my parents grew up, dated and married. Times were difficult but a lot simpler then and people reached out to one another. A wonderful story that you won't be able to put down and it has a little bit of everything in it. You won't be disappointed, promise!!! I bought the book for my personal library. Don't pass this one up. So far it's my LS favorite!

Summary: This is the very best book I have ever read.
Review: In this book, you can see HOW and WHY the two main characters fall in love. It is not just the most beautiful woman in the entire universe falling for the sexiest man who ever had a deep dark secret. This is a book about real people who open up to each other and finally get the happy ending they deserve. All of the details of the book are perfect; everything about it is perfect. And to the reviewer below, they did make a movie out of it but the actor who played Will Parker was Christopher Reeve, who, bless his heart, just does not look like a scrawny underfed ex-con. If you loved the book do not watch the movie.

Summary: Spencer does it again...(4 1/2 stars)
Review: It always amazes me how consistently brilliant Lavyrle Spencer is. Even if Im not crazy about all of her books, there is no arguing that the woman can write.... "Morning Glory" is a perfect example of Spencer's enormous talent for making the characters and the scenery enveloping them leap to life. "Morning Glory" was a heartwarming tale of Will and Elly- two lost souls who had known little happiness in their lives, but who found love in eachother. I LOVED this book. I thought that the characters growth was a wonder to watch and I enjoyed every moment. My only quibble with this book was that I felt that there wasn't enough romantic tension...Elly and Will proclaimed their love too early on for my taste, but regardless the story was enthralling. All in all a fantastic read...

Summary: My all-time favorite book!
Review: Morning Glory is a book I read, loved, but put off reading for the second time. I was afraid some of the magic would go out of a re-read. I was wrong. This is a book I will never grow tired of. Elly and Will are so good for each other. Each made the other shine. Truly a book to treasure for a lifetime.

Summary: Thoroughly enjoyable
Review: Morning Glory is a touching, well-written book that will leave you feeling good. It involves characters who are different than the usual romance novel in that they are not gorgeous, smart and confident, but you come to love them. I enjoyed reading a story outside the usual formula.

Summary: Morning Glory, by LaVyrle Spencer
Review: MORNING GLORY is set in the 1940s and is the story of "Crazy" Elly Dinsmore, raised by religious fanatics and teased and tormented by everyone in town; and Will Parker, an ex-con trying to put his life back together. Elly is a young, pregnant widow who, when she finds she can't make ends meet, puts an ad for a husband in the local paper. Will sees the ad and applies for the job. As Will begins making repairs and improvements to Elly's property, their attraction to each other grows. World War Two intervenes, and Will is called up for service, but he and Elly write to each other frequently, and manage a visit when Will has leave.

Shortly after Will comes home from the war, he is accused of murdering the local floozy, and Elly must overcome her personal demons in order to help with Will's trial. How the two misfits find each other and their place in their community is a deeply engrossing story. Spencer excels at emotional writing, and in this book, she outdoes herself with her secondary characters, especially Gladys Beasley, the town librarian, who strikes up an incongruous friendship with Will. This book has everything: romance, humor, pathos, mystery, and history. This is my personal favorite of LaVyrle's books, and it has held up to several repeat readings.

Summary: You have to read this book!
Review: Morning Glory is without a doubt the best romance I have ever read. I have read it about 2 times a year for the past few years, and each time I find something else to love about it! I can only dream about having a love like the one that Will and Elly share. This book is moving and beautiful, you'll laugh and cry within the same few minutes. So, read it!
