Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Latest From Stuart
Review: Pretty good effort from Stuart. I was most captivated by the secondary characters Rachel-Ann and Rico and wish the book had been about them. They were a lot more interesting and compelling to me than the main couple, Jilly and Coltrane. I especially wanted to know more about how Rico came to be in the situation he was in and what his life to that point had been like.

The ghosts were okay, but nothing to write home about. Overall the book had more of a category feel to--it just seemed to lack depth. As a reader I felt like I was in and out of the book so fast that I was never immersed in the story, as I was in her previous release, Shadow Lover.

Summary: Anne Stuart does it again
Review: The type of stories Anne Stuart writes not what I usually seek out. The characters have troubled pasts which have led to trouble presents and problems it feels would often take a team of psycholanalysts years to handle. They are often dark, brooding portraits.

So, why do I recommend this book? Because Anne Stuart's writing is, as always, compelling and difficult to put down. There's humor along the way (the whole tussle over the ordering of a simple pizza is great), and the characters are well-drawn and believeable.

Set in one of those great mansions that line Sunset Boulevard, this is a story of love and redemption, and how sometimes one must let go in order to find what you were truly seeking. Two stories entertwine here -- the mystery of the two sisters and brother who currently live in the house, one sister keeping their father at bay from destroying both the house and her siblings, and the 1950's film star who once lived within the walls, but seems to have shot her director/lover then killed herself. Their ghosts haunt the mansion, trapped by their fate as much as those they watch over are trapped by theirs.

Clear your calendar for the evening, take the phone off the hook, and have the take-out close at hand, because when you start reading, you are not going to want to put this one down.

Summary: Up-all-night reading from a can't-put-down author
Review: This book is a fabulous ride. Jilly and Coltrance simply sizzle, and the story gets extra oomph from a secondary couple as well. I loved the set-up, the atmosphere and the intensity of this. Don't miss this one!

Summary: Anne Stuart At Her Best!
Review: This book is riveting. It's classic Anne Stuart romantic suspense with just the right Gothic edge. However, this book is unique even for this incredible author. SHADOWS AT SUNSET sizzles and has a to-die-for dangerous hero. But Coltraine has a thread of vulnerability that makes you want to cuddle him even knowing he'll have his way with you anyway. Oh, yes, please! Don't miss this book! In this reader's opinion, it marks the beginning of even greater things to come. Now I think I'll go reread her backlist....

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Everything from ghosts, to suspense, to love!
Review: This book was great from the first page. The attraction between Jilly and Coltrane is sizzling. The suspense of what will happen next is ingrained into every page. There is a run down estate, with a history of a murder-suicide, a hippie commune, and sinister secrets. There is Coltrane sixth sense that let's him know what he shouldn't know. There is also an evil, evil father to contend with. This book is for anyone who wants spice and suspense, and above all hope that there are possibilities in the shadows.

Summary: A great romantic suspense from the grande dame of the genre.
Review: This latest Stuart suspense is less dark than some of her others, but fans will not be disappointed since she creates Jackson Meyer, a character who manages to make Mommie Dearest look wholesome. You won't get predictable characters or a tired plot from this author.

Jilly Meyer, self-proclaimed co-dependent, is the mother hen who fusses over her two dysfunctional siblings, Dean and Rachel-Ann. But where was the chance for normalcy in a family whose father Jackson Meyer, corporate king-pin, is an evil, conniving, amoral snake? Paternal devotion means something very twisted to Jackson. The three siblings live together in the decrepit Hollywood mansion that has become their emotional refuge. Called La Casa de Sombras, the House of Shadows, the rotting mansion hides not only the family's secrets but also the identity of at least one murderer. Jackson lays siege to the mansion with the help of his henchman Coltrane. But why? Does he mean to possess the house or its inhabitants? Inevitably, Coltrane and Jilly meet to do battle for the house and for so much more. Can she save herself and her sister from Coltrane who pursues them both? Jilly becomes more vulnerable to the handsome Coltrane even as she watches his growing interest in her sister. Will Jilly eventually fall prey to Coltrane or will she save him from the destructive path he has chosen? You'll enjoy the twists and turns, as well as the revelations that occur. And watching all these events unfold are the mansion's ghosts. Whose destruction do they plan?

After you finish this book, try Stuart's other romantic suspense novels: NIGHTFALL, MOONRISE, RITUAL SINS, and SHADOW LOVER.

Summary: I don't get it . . .???
Review: Why is everyone raving over Anne Stuart? I read this novel and THE WIDOW because they got such good reviews, but each time, I was disappointed. I love bad boys in romance novels, but Anne Stuart's bad boys are so bad that she really never convinces me that they are falling in love with the heroines. In this novel, it seems like he treats Jillian like ..., and then every once in a while he has a stray thought about caring more for her than he will admit. Based on these few stray thoughts are we supposed to buy the ending? I couldn't. Besides, I never liked a desperate heroine and Jillian turns into one. I hate the fact that Zach is so sure of her and she lets him be.

All in all, I'm not impressed with Stuart's works.
