Summary: The best since Omerta
Review: Folks, I have read Omerta and wanted to read The Silcilian and finally did. It was a great fictional book. A tremendous beginning, a wonderful blend of characters and situations. Hard boil suspense. It is the best since Omerta.

Summary: One of Puzo's Best
Review: I bought this book and had the entire thing read in a matter of days. And this was during a span of days where I was busy. My point basically is that is was so good, that I literally couldn't stop reading it. The first three chapters or so were a little slow but the book picks up fast and never looks back. All the characters were interesting and if have read or seen the Godfather then I suggest you read this book, because this story sort of blends with the other.

The story takes place while Michael Corleone is in excile in Sicily. If you know anything about the Godfather then you know what Im talking about.... I would tell the story line but Amazon can do that for you.

Overall this is one of the best books that I have read in a long time. The ending kinda made me mad, but it was a good way to end this book. If you are a fan of Puzo's work or a fan of the Godfather then I suggest you pick up this book, you won't be disappointed!!!

Summary: Puzo creates a legendary and cunning Italian folk hero.
Review: I loved this book. It captures everything everyone loves about the Italian culture. It is a thick plot, with wonderfully complex characters who overcome corruption, greed, and betrayal to become true heros. You'll find yourself rooting and cheering for these characters as they continually outsmart the bad guys. Devi leggere questo libro...e' magnifico!

Summary: Simply Excellent
Review: I read a lot of books and I've already read 3 books by Mario Puzo...but this is a timeless classic. And I don't throw that word around often. It has beautiful scenery, deep relatable characters, complex treachery, insight into Sicilian culture, and all this in a tight, readable, and enjoyable prose. Mr. Puzo obviously set out to create a character that gets emblazed into the readers memory...and that's exactly what he does. Days after reading the book, I find myself thinking about Turi Guiliano, the romantic bandit, and his own sense of integrity and heroism. Very well done indeed. This is the first book that I've found to be highly entertaining without dumbing down the story and the topics...it has a subtle intellectualism to it as well. So, if you like any of these features in a book, you will enjoy this one.

Summary: I Agree- Better than Godfather
Review: I read the Godfather first and then was intrigued to find out more about he Sicilian style of life. From page one of this novel I was reeled in. The kidnapping and other aspects of their lifestyle facinated me. There is no doubt in my mind that this is the best book ever written by Mario Puzo.

Summary: great book
Review: i read this book in basically 3 days, and its like 420 pages. maria puzo is a great story teller, and i love italian/sicilian culture and mindset. he adds a lot to the suspense of the story by skipping around characters and focusing on them. its a little bit different than the Godfather, its got more of a justice/vigilante thing going, which i think is cool.

Summary: A good read!
Review: I stumbled upon this book one day at the book store and I saw who the author was, Mario Puzo. Having previously read the Godfather I decided to give it a try, all I can say is this is a very enjoyable book to read from beginning to end. The book tells the story of a real life character, Turi Giuliano, who lived after WWII and was considered a hero by many -a modern day Robin Hood. Having researched this character after reading the book, I found that many of the events that happened in the book are in fact what actually happened in real life. It's interesting to see how Mr. Puzo took the time to do some research on Salvatore Giuliano. The book calls him 'Guiliano', but in fact his surname was 'Giuliano'. The book deals with the main character's life as well as Don Croce-the Friends of Friends top boss- and Michael Corleone's time in exile. A good read. You'll be surprised how the story ends...
