Rating: Summary: Decent - But not the best Review: The audio version is well read by Kit Cameron, he does a good job on the different character voices, though I would prefer a bit more emphasis during intense scenes. It is a simple read, no sounds or music except a couple seconds at beginning and end. Not having read the book yet I don't know how well the abridged audio compares to the full story. But here are my impressions... The storyline is servicable but not one of the best. Longarm tracks 3 killers to the tiny town of Whiskey Creek which is as lawless as they come. Showing up he meets up with the "widow". In the best Longarm style, she instantly falls for him. What was disconcerting was that Longarm spends more time with her and working on town problems then getting on with his mission - which is a departure from the norm for Longarm. After Longarm asks a young man for help, it seemed like almost half the story was about him and what he was doing to the town, Longarm never even showed up until almost at the end, and then his original mission seemed to be kind of glossed over and was complete in about 5 minutes of audio. On the plus side the young man was an interesting character and the townsfolk were fleshed out better than most secondary players.
