Rating: Summary: Pippi's Exciting Adventure Review: Pippi is very funny. She is really strong. Her father went overboard.Pippi has two friends Anika and Tommy. I think girls my age (7) would enjoy this book because in one part Pippi went to a tea party with a very big hat.
Rating: Summary: One of the most engaging books written for boys and girls! Review: Pippi Longstocking is frequently one of the first chapter books read to children, and as a first grade teacher, I can attest to the value of its choice. Pippi is a larger than life character who does so many things that young children find absolutely wonderful and satisfying. * * * * * * * * * * * Pippi, an *orphan* with braids askew, lives all by herself at Villa Villekulla. Her only companions are her monkey and a horse (who lives on her porch).Children get to know Pippi through Annika and Tommy, *proper* children who live next door. Pippi looks at things as obliquely as her braids; she usually sees the positive side of things, unless she is requested to go to school or learn the multiplication tables. She has her own ideas about things, and simply cannot be made to follow the rules, but her way of disobeying is amusing and quite chathartic for children who ALWAYS have to follow the rules that adults make. She does not inspire kids to break the rules;she just makes them laugh with glee at her absurdity. She has *powers* that they adore!
Rating: Summary: Pippi! Review: Pippi Longstocking is the best series of books ever. Astrid Lindgren wrote these books so colorfully and beautifully, every child has to love them.Pippi was originally translated from Swedish, and, if you speak it, I would recommend getting the Swedish version.
Rating: Summary: December#10 Review: Pippi longstocking was one of the first chapter books I read as I had to read it for a Third grade class. I enjoyed the way she gets herself out of jams and helps show the neighbor kids a whole new way of life that they've never seen before. There is one thing that is stuck in my mind from that book and it is how everything is upside down in her house. I think that this should be every kids first chapter book because it is easy to read and it helps kids open their imagination. It showed me how to use mine and even though I didn't do the stuff Pippi did it still helped me open up my imagination and I hope it still helps kids.
Rating: Summary: The Adventures of Pippi Longstocking Review: Pippi Lonstocking was one of the first books that I read as a child ALL by myself. While looking for a birthday gift for my 6 year old niece, a reluctant reader, I remembered Pippi and the joy of reading this wonderful book by Astrid Lindgren. Not only was she able to read it by herself, but she would curl up in a corner of her room to finish the whole book! What a success! Pippi's whacky adventures provide the reader, especially young girls, with lots of fun.
Rating: Summary: You want to be Pippi? I AM PIPPI! Review: Pippi reinforced my innate belief that I could do anything I wanted to do and that it was OK to be a strong and brave girl. I grew up in Sweden but ended up fighting drugs and crime while providing housing in American public housing neighborhoods, still buttressed by that Pippi can-do/never-give-up spirit. I'm still lifting horses over my head and scaring the bad guys, all the while having the time of my life. Thank you Pippi and thank you Astrid Lindgren!
Rating: Summary: Highly entertaining for 5 and above! Refreshingly different. Review: The original Pippi,Inger Nilsson, is a classic for any age. If it were just available! It's a pure, simple and fun movie for children. You'll be hard-pressed to find anything in the 90's era children's movies that compares.
Rating: Summary: Fun to Read Review: This is a fun and silly novel about a girl with mind-boggling strength, intense zest for life, spontaneity, and no desire for practicality. It is light-hearted and fun to read.
Rating: Summary: This book is a real treat for young readers! Review: This is a wonderful, imaginative book about the free-spirited Pippi Longstocking and her adventures. I'd actually recommend it for younger children, too (I was only 6 when I read it the first time, and it became my favorite book).
Rating: Summary: Good despite bad dubbing! Review: This is the original Swedish version of Pippi Longstocking it is pretty good despite the bad dubbing but despite that the movie is very charming and appealing and so are all the other movies in the delightful series that stars Inger Nilsson as Pippi and she is the defintive Pippi! It's a shame that this classic is out of stock it's better than the 80's remake. Fans of Astrid Lindgren's Pippi books will find this Swedish version more faithful to the books than the remake.
