Summary: Time stops for no Mouse
Review: This is a wonderful book about a mouse on a mission. This mouse's name is Hermux Tantamoq. Hermux is an old mouse watchmaker, who sees through other's looks and can tell what kind of person, or should I say mouse, they are. He is a kind, gentlemouse.
His mission is to save a female mouse that wanted her watch fixed immediatley, with the exact time but, though it seemed so urgent, she never came to pick it up. Hermux knew there was something wrong. This is a fun story for young adults. It is a mystery/fantasy filled with adventure.

Summary: SPECTRUM Children's Book Club Book of the Year (2002)
Review:
With two books published 2002 -- Time Stops for No Mouse (January) and The Sands of Time (September) -- The Hermux Tantamoq Adventures are SPECTRUM's Favorite New Book of 2002.

Michael Hoeye has created a charming, 1920s-ish world where rodents rule. At the center of these delicious tales is the meek Hermux Tantamoq. Hermux, who's half house mouse and half field mouse, is an expert watchmaker and mechanical wiz who happens to have a pet ladybug named Terfle. Each night before bed, Hermux takes the time to enter into his journal all the things for which he was thankful that day. Hoeye compliments his lead character with a clever supporting cast of characters and constructs stories that pay homage to old movies and invoke the feeing of perhaps an Agatha Christie or Arthur Conan Doyle tale. While there is something charmingly old-fashioned about the flavor of the books, Hoeye infuses his tales with wit, satire, and social commentaries that are spot-on for today's reader.

While the publisher states that Michael Hoeye's playful adventure/ mysteries are young adult fiction, these books are excellent for both younger audiences and adults. They are good for younger audiences for two reasons. First, they make great bedtime stories for those who read to their children. Second, Hoeye's easy, uncomplicated style, gentle story lines, and short chapters make these books ideal for a child to transition from chapter books to novels. At the same, time the underlying wit and social commentary, mentioned above, gives the books an added layer to be enjoyed by the adult reader or the older child who returns to the books.

These are books that should become generational family favorites, so the investment in hard cover editions is worth the expense....

Summary: Absolutely Charming
Review: I love this book. It's primarily geared towards children, but it is truly fabulous and everyone, yes everyone, will love it.
I am not an avid reader, but I read much more than my friends and relatives.
Hoeye has presented a simplistic view of what it is like to be a mouse, and it also helps that the chapters are very short... if you only have a small amount of time to read like myself.
But don't let that stop you from buying this book! You really won't want to put it down! I definately recommend the sequel to this one, The Sands of Time.

Summary: Incredible!...
Review: This is a great book! It's cute and sweet but not so much so it is annoying. Everything is created to fit the setting (the land of rodents and other small mammals). I read it just to hear how Hermux eats cheese and apples and drinks honey fizz with pickled grubs on the side!

But no, this book isn't only creative and cute, it also has an incredible plot full of surprises. It's scary and suspenseful.

It is about watchmaker Hermux Tantamoq, who gets caught in a huge adventure when he gets the job of fixing her watch. When a shifty looking rat comes to pick up the watch, Hermux is positive he's bad news and follows him... and gets caught up in all the hidden identities and trouble that lurks in Pinchester!

The characters are unforgettable. Hermux is delightful, so deep and kind (and always bumbling!), his apartment-mate Tucka is notorious with her flashy clothes and orange make-up, shrewd plastic surgeon Mennus is a perfect villain, and Linka Perflinger seems so adventurous, although I feel we didn't get to see her/learn about her enough. I don't think Hermux really saw her enough to be so friendly at the end... but oh well! It was still no doubt a five starred book!

Summary: VERY CREATIVE IDEA THAT WILL HIT BIG WITH REDWALL FANS!
Review: This story is, like Redwall, another thrilling story with mice instead of men. Now, instead of being in an unlocated island/mainland, this takes place in a REAL WORLD. The story takes place in a city. There is everything that goes on in our world. With furry citizens. A very original story.

Here's the basic plot: It WAS just another ordinary day for Hermux Tantamoq, watchmaker; but then Linka Perflinger, not one that he knew, brings in a badly damaged watch that MUST be repaired by tommorow morning. After working hard, Hermux eventualy finishes the difficult task of making the watch good as new. But Linka doesn't come. Doesn't come for weeks. A rat comes & askes for her watch, in not a nice tone at all. But Hermux can't give it to him. And he doesn't. Soon, Hermux finds that Linka has recently done something heroic. (in the recent past) Hermux soon tangles himself up in this huge dilema, concerned about Linka, who he has only seen once, and the dangers that surround her... (good, aint it?)

One thing that may be odd about this book is that it contains about 75 chapters. It is a diferent & unique style of writing, & I think that I like it.

GREAT MYSTERY, GREAT AUTHOR. GREAT BUY. AS IN NOW.

Summary: A Big Disappointment
Review: I saw this book in a store and thought it sounded like a good book, so I bought it. I know other people on this site who wrote that this was an excellent book, but I hated it! There was some action but most of the book was boring and predictable. I would NOT buy this book.

Summary: Sparkling Adventure
Review: I purchased this for my Grandson but was intrigued by the title and decided to read it first. Hoeye's talent abounds in this well written action oriented narrative. This fascinating story is helped along by the author's use of unique names and concise authentic dialogue. I enjoyed this book from the first page through to the last. A great gift for that special youth in your life.

Summary: A mouse I¿ve welcomed into my house
Review: When Hermux Tantamoq, a mouse, put on his shirt depicting many varieties of cheeses, I decided the book was adorable. Cozier than an Agatha Christie mystery (how could it not be with all the fur and such), Time Stops for No Mouse is as close to Raymond Chandler as you can get using talking animals. The plot is delightful and inventive. The characters are rich and multi-layered. Don't let the cuteness of it all fool you. Michael Hoeye has written a book for all ages.

Summary: Time Stops For No Mouse
Review: A watchmaker. A Reporter. Three Villains. An Unlikely Hero. A Hostegess and Lying, deceit, murder and twists of the plot all star in Michael Hoeyes Time Stops for No Mouse.
A mild mannered watchmaker known as Hermux Tantamq lives in a huge city called Pinchester. In this huge metropolis mouse, mole, rat and all kinds of other rodents live together but NOT in harmony. Hermux lives a normal life until a Linka Perflinger arrives with a destroyed watch and demands to have it fixed to keep perfect time by 11'o'clock tomorrow. Hermux falls in love with her and when Ms Perflinger does not return to collect her watch Hermux decides to find out what has happened to her. He meets up with reporter Pup Schooflen and enlists his help in the search for ms Perflinger; and on top of this all he is having his hall re-decorated by the same Tucka Merslin who shattered his great-great-great-great-great Grandfathers Hourglass in an experiment for Tuckas New beauty product and the same Tucka Merslin who seems inexplicably linked up in the Mystery. However these problems pail in the light of his discoveries at the mysterious Last Resort Health Spa run by the shady Dr. Hril Meenus in which he checks in under an assumed name.
This immensely enjoyable book is perfect for a bit of light, comic reading or a serious novel that addresses many issues such as loss of a loved one, and the beauty of the world around us; but it also addresses the equally important issues of the normality's of life, the importance of routine and then what happens when your routine life is taken apart, your moralities and loyalties challenged and you are left with a fresh view of life and a new take on the world. It really made me feel for the characters- if one is hurt you feel pain, if one angry you feel anger with them and if they are sad so are you.
I feel this a must read book and rate it in my top 20 books (which is being shaken up a lot with the advent of the Carnegie Medal) It has a fast pulse yet has
All the elements I would look for in a book is suited to anyone who wants a good read and it made me think about the world around us and helped me to appreciate the normalities of life. Even now I am still thinking about it and it bounces around my head when I go to sleep and I hope it continues to do so for it has given loads of fun and good dreams for weeks after reading it.
