Summary: I agree middle of the line.
Review: This wasn't a bad book, per say. It was an easy read but didn't seem to have much of a point other than man bashing and her friendship with Tricia. I am glad for the people of Mimosa Branch though. This book isn't her best, but still enjoyable!

Summary: Get this from the library, then decide if you want to buy it
Review: To me, this book didn't ever quite come together. The book had lovable characters and small town charm, but the plot to me seemed very disjointed, and some of the relationships between characters seemed contrived. When I got to the end of the novel, I wasn't quite sure whether or not I actually enjoyed the story or not. I'm not sure what the point was, to be perfectly honest.

Summary: Smith is the new Queen Bee of Southern Fiction!
Review: Turn off the phone. Make a good strong cup of tea. Then curl up with Smith's newest offering, Queen Bee of Mimosa Branch. But be forewarned: You will laugh out loud. You will cry. You will meet the most unusual characters. And you will be cheering for the greatest southern heroine to hit the pages of a book in many, many years! Smith's wit is razor sharp, and her glimpse of southern womanhood is a hoot! Yet beneath the wit and humor lies great wisdom that will touch many layers of your understanding of women ... so read slowly and savor every word. This is a book you will read and reread, if only to mark time until Smith can deliver another one.

Summary: Funny, Brilliant Southern Fiction
Review: Well, as I've said many times before, sometimes you just have to be born and bred in the SOUTH to 'get' good Southern fiction. Those yankee reviewers are just out of the loop and need to spend a few summers below the Mason-Dixon line. And it helps to even better understand this one if you're a Boomer and have already experienced a hot flash/mood swing or two!! LOL! This book had me howling with laughter and nodding my head in appreciatation of Ms. Linwood's fabulous wit. And her family is priceless. Talk about typical Southern family!! I loved every single character. My only regret was that Lin didn't get a good romp in the hay with old Grant before she booted his butt out the door...but her munching the (unknown to her at the time) marijuana-laced brownies from her old lesbian pal more than made up for the disappointment. I highly recommend this book if you need a good laugh. Thanks for a great novel, Ms. Smith. How about a sequel???? Pretty please!!!

Summary: Quick read, not as predictable as you might think
Review: While some characterization is overstated, the truth rings true enough to bring smiles of recognition. Always fishing for a perfect mother's day gift, and being satisfied with something acceptable, it was a treat to have this book hit the mark of being appreciated far beyond its cost. Come to it with a light and playful mood and be entertained.

Summary: Crazy Southern Women
Review: Why is it that the writing about Southerners are always the craziest? If you're looking for middle aged crazy southern women, look no further. You've found your book.

What woman can stand with head held high as her husband of 30 years runs off with a stripper, while the IRS strips her clean? Lin Breedlove can, even as she must crawl back to her parents' home and start over. And start over she does both physically and emotionally.

Lin does a lot of growing up after she returns to her parents' home. She gets involved in ousting the current mayor in an election process only the southern can call normal. She falls for her northern neighbor even when you want to scream at her to run away.

Over all, a nice pleasant read and the perfect escapeism for a great relaxing weekend.

Summary: Don't need to be a southern belle to enjoy this one!
Review: You don't need to take a rose apart to know why it is beautiful, you don't need to dissect Queen Bee to know why it warms the soul. Just make yourself comfortable and let this cast of really likeable characters take you on their journey. Ms Smith reminds us life is too short to be taken too seriously. Isn't there a little Lin and Uncle Bedford in all of us? I hope so. Loved the book.
