Rating: Summary: OUTSTANDING Review: I received my book on Friday and finish up on Monday morning. I have to congratulation Kimberla on another winner with her fifth book. As big fan of her work this book has to be my favorite. I highly recommend you go out and buy this book. You will not be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: Okay Book Review: This book was a very easy read, I read it in only a few hours. The story was okay but pretty unrealistic in some parts. I did get into the discrimination plot at her Anise's job, so much so that I found myself skipping pages to see what she was going to do, instead of reading about her crying to her Ma. Her ex-husband was a total nut. After what he said to her I can't believe she didn't change the locks on him and throw the rest of his stuff in the street. As for her relationship with Frank, it moved wayyyyy too fast. She went from needing his help to undying love in a few pages. Except for him stalking her in the corridors at work, they hardly knew each other. What I didn't like most was the end. Having Frank turn out to be a wishy-washy jerk was a total cop out. The author spent so much time having Anise to accept her feelings for Frank and the reactions of others to her being in love with Frank. It doesn't make sense that Frank would put so much time into convincing Anise to be with him and repeatedly asking her to marry him only to consider going back to a woman who left him years ago with no explanation. If the author wanted to avoid writing an I/R romance, I think the ending could have been handled differently. This book was okay, but certainly not as good as it could have been.
Rating: Summary: Can't fall asleep? Read this novel. Review: I read several novels by this author, but this one was too boring and boy did it drag out. Kimberla discribed things too much. How much can you say about a phone? Yes racial and sex discrimination in the workplace should be addressed, but I just wasn't feeling this stroyline. I also think Anisa was a winer. Why was it so important that she get that particiuar position? In real life when management is against the applicant getting a position, it leads to nothing but stress. No matter how well you do the job, it won't be good enough which means very bad performance evaluations. This book was selected by the host of my reading circle and I just couldn't get into this book. I read 6 chapters and just wasn't feeling it so I went straight to the epilouge. After reading it, I would have saved time reading this much about nothing story.
Rating: Summary: It's so Close to Reality Review: Wow, Kimberla has done it again with another greatly written book. She really shows us her skills as she pen a story so close to reality. You will definitely feel in touch with the situations that takes place in this book from the office to the home. Great plot line Kimberla, I definitely look forward to more from you. If you haven't purchased this book, you should because it is one to have in your collection. The story is sugar coated and you don't get a lot of fluff to fill the pages, 100% good story!Tonya Howard http://www.sisterdivas.org
