Summary: Gripping Suspense
Review: I couldn't put this page-turner down. Stalkers come in all shapes and sizes -- even genders, and Eliza Blake (from Clark's debut thriller) is the perfect target, smart and self-assured, even when the letters and phone calls become increasingly menacing. The reader finds out who's getting closer and closer only when Eliza does -- and then it's too late! Immensely enjoyable. When I'm watching Katie Couric and Diane Sawyer these days, I can only wonder who else is watching . . . and planning God-knows-what. I strongly recommend Mary Jane Clark's latest, and very readable, suspenser.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: Un-put-down-able!
Review: I couldn't turn these pages fast enough. Wow. Learned a ton about the TV news world, too. But mostly my heart just raced.

I'm now going to read every book Mary Jane Clark has ever written.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Close to You by Mary Jane Clark
Review: I have read a few MJC books, and all have been better than this one. I have noticed a trend she has: wrapping up the ending of her stories rather abruptly. This is no exception with this book, and was more obvious than her other books, probably because of the predictable plot. The heroine of the story is very likable with an interesting life. However, the reader had no clue to decide for themselves who was the villain until the heroine did right at the end which led to Clark wrapping up every other potential suspect's stories in matters of a few paragraphs. It seemed like Clark was tired of the story and she didn't want to put the effort in to make the ending more realistic and satisfying. If you really want to try a Mary Jane Clark book, I would recommend "Let Me Whisper in Your Ear" instead of this one.

Summary: Semi-interesting storyline, but wrapped up way too quickly!

Summary: WHY?
Review: I love MJC's books but I am inclined to agree with other reviewers that she wraps up her books too fast and that when the villain is ultimately revealed, there is no explanation behind his/her motivation to commit the crime.

In this book, she brings back Eliza Blake who is a loveable character from her previous books. Eliza who is a news anchorwoman is being stalked not by one but by a few psychos. The book moves along quickly and the reason behind some of the stalking was a bit surprising but when you find out who the "REAL" stalker turns out to be, you will have one burning question. WHY? We know that stalkers are usually crazy people who get fixated on someone but there usually is a reason why they become fixated (the person they are stalking, reminds them of someone who they hate/loved) but in this case you really don't get a grasp of why this person was stalking Eliza.

MJC has the potential to be another Mary Clark Higgins but she needs to work on her endings and this is why I am rating this book a 4 instead of a 5.

Summary: Couldn't put it down
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I didn't have any idea of who the bad guy was and it was a surprise. There were several creepy characters to chose from. It makes me wonder how many of these stalkings happen that we never hear about. It must be awful to be in that position. Ms. Clark has told a fast-paced story which I read in two sittings.

Summary: Laura's Fabulous Review
Review: In the book, Close to You, Eliza and Janie go through many struggles. In the beginning, Eliza has everything going for her; she is a head anchorwoman and is moving to the country with her daughter. During the move, she is plagued by stalkers and a past that catches up with her. Many characters such as Meat, a troublemaker, and Keith, a co-worker, cause conflict. She is dealing with this turmoil while trying to forget her past, dating an unloyal anchorman in London, and keeping her daughter safe. All of this action ends with a thrilling twist. It is truly a great book.

Summary: Wow!
Review: Mary Jane Clark has done it again. I LOVED this book. Usually when reading thrillers I become impatient with intelligence-insulting plots that so clearly point to the climax. Not so with Mary Jane Clark's fiction. She keeps me guessing until the end. GREAT for airplanes, doctors offices etc. But...if you read before bedtime be forewarned: you won't get a lick of sleep.
You'll love it.

Summary: Nothing impressive!
Review: This book was far too tied up in several subplots with way too many characters. And other suspects? There hardly were any! You knew which suspect had done what, thus eliminating suspense. The book does not even get interesting until after about page 300. The story finally gets going then. I would definitely not recommend it!

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: could not put this down!
Review: This goes back to the first in the series, with Eliza as the star. She has many creepy admirers, and from page to page (gotta love those short chapters), it's impossible to tell who the most threatening stalker will be. Plus, there's a romance or two on the side . . . Tons of fun & perfect for late-summer beach reading.
