Summary: This girl has issues!
Review: This book was a pretty good read. I think we can all relate to at least one of the characters in the book. The main character has a lot of flaws; however, I see that as a part of the story. I got more then a few laughs as she rationalized her behavior.

This is a decent story. If you are looking for the "meaning of life" or something "deep" then this is NOT the book for you. If you are looking for something fun to read, the give it a try.

Summary: Babysister may be scandalous, but she is REAL and funny!
Review: "Please Please Please" offers a very entertaining read. The storyline is never slow, predictable or boring. And while Babysister may do things that abhor readers, she is ALIVE and BREATHING. And that is the most important quality in interesting fiction.

Summary: A good easy read
Review: I finished this book in 2 days. It kept my attention better than I thought it would. After reading some of the reviews I was a little skeptical about buying the book. However, I was not too disappointed. The plot did get boring at some points, but all in all it was a good read. Babysister took us on a wild ride through her crazy life, but what was up with Malcolm, he could have been left out of the story (what a whiner)! Much success to Renee Swindle, I'm waiting for the next one. Peace!!

Summary: I'm glad I didn't buy it!
Review: This book lacked depth and a good foundation. I was so excited to read this book because I had heard a lot about it. However, it was really simple and predictable. The characters were flat and unintriguing. Even though the book was about Babysister, I found that I left it not knowing exactly WHO she was.

Summary: Interesting and good read
Review: I had been waiting on this book for almost three years, when I first heard about it. It was well worth the wait. I enjoyed it very much. Now Babysister did get on my nerves and Darren wasn't the man I thought he was. The story had a good ending though. As I was reading, I couldn't wait to see what else was going to happen. I'll be waiting for the next book.

Summary: Excellent, straight from the heart reading.
Review: I can sympathize with all the characters in this book, because I have been in similar circumstances. Renee Swindle has written a book that most women can relate to. The book was a healing process for me, but it also let's you know that life goes on. At first, I was mad at Babysister for what she had done to her best friend, but in the end, she goes through the same exact thing. This book is a lesson in life for married or single women who have been played in one way or another. It teaches you that what you want is not always what you get. There is more to life than somebody else's man, but it is also a wake-up call for women to beware. I am grateful to the author for writing such a powerful novel. Thank you, Renee you are truly a girlfriend. For other women, this is the book that will make you exhale!!!!!!!. I have read this book and shared it with other people, so far they have enjoyed reading it. I bought the book because of the write-up that the newspaper had given it. I would like to meet the author and tell her to keep on writing. The book is worthy of reading, regardless of what other people have said, maybe they just can't face the truth. I would recommend this book to everyone, especially women. I can't wait for another one of her books to come out. Renee, if you happen to read this, please, please, please keep up the faith and don't let anything stop you from accomplishing all you're goals. You're book was a healing balm for my soul. Once again, thank you very much for writing such a wonderful, insightful novel.

Summary: Great book for a first time writer
Review: Fast read, great story and characters. I can't wait for the second book. Renee Swindle is an author to watch.

Summary: What about zero stars?
Review: Babysister? And what about this: "You are the finest, most drop-dead-gorgeous motherf****r I have seen in a long, a very long time..."

I threw this book in the trash after the first chapter.

Is this author trying to convince me that this Babysister is just a bad girl, a politically incorrect character? Please, please, please! I love bad girls in literature, but Babysister is just a ghetto girl and a stupid one dimensional ghetto girl at that! But that's not her fault.

I would suggest (not that anyone's asking) that the author write a real novel the next time around, with actual character development. After reading some of the other reviews, no one seems to care that this novel (and a string of other novels like this by black authors) is seriously flawed, I mean BAD!

So, perhaps I don't "get it." Maybe we (black folks) want the right to write and read bad novels. Okay. I'll stick to Alice Walker and Toni Morrison and anyone else who can write a real novel and leave other folks alone.

Summary: Save your money....This book is a real disappointment
Review: To be brief: The characterizations in this book are sloppy and inconsistent, Babysister and her brother in particular. The portayal of the brother is so narrow and superficial as to render him completely inconsequential. Babysister must have a multiple personality disorder, because one day she is a backward spoiled brat from the inner city who doesn't know what thai food is and the next she is talking about great but somewhat obscure modern black writers and able to succeed as a waitress in a fancy restaurant. All this is secondary to the fact that the writing does not flow and at points is even embarassing. The Kirkus review was pretty right on. This writers primary way of painting or describing a character is by discussing their hair style and what they are wearing, very superficial and neither enlightening nor involving.

Summary: A Round of Applause for Swindle
Review: I enjoyed Swindle's portrayal of the real. I was a little disturbed at the fact that a woman would let a man come between her and her "homie" or "childhood/adult friend". But, that is how life is a struggle. Some people just have no idea how much power they have and don't have till the very end. This book was a page turner anticipating "BabySister" next move. I must say that this novel is the beginning of a beautiful friendship (with the Swindle). I hope it only gets better from here.
