Rating: Summary: These Is My Words Review: This book took me to another time period and way of life. I usually do not read historical fiction, but this was recommended to my by some friends. I could not put it down. It was excellent! Truly a classic.
Rating: Summary: Excellent, couldn't put it down! Review: Really much more than a great book. Made me cry and I never cry. I took a day off work just so I could keep reading. That says it all.
Rating: Summary: An adult Laura Ingles Wilder novel Review: Nancy Turner is a brilliant storyteller. I started this book and could not put it down. I am not a big romance reader yet this has a beautiful love story. There is humor and heartbreak when Sarah tells her story. She reminds me of a wilder version of a Little House in the Big Woods character. If you liked A Diary for Mattie Spencer by Sandra Dallas, or the Little House books, you will love Nancy Turners voice.
Rating: Summary: An okay book Review: I had to read this book for a highschool English Honors class. I thought it was an okay book. It was very slow at first. It becomes much better towards the end of the book. The first part was awful and through the book the highlights seemed to be Sarah having kids and people that she loved dying. I enjoyed a few parts of the story but the rest just was not to interesting to me.
Rating: Summary: An excellent debut by Nancy E. Turner! Review: "These Is My Words: The Diary of Sarah Agnes Prine, 1881-1901 Arizona Territories" was a superb historical fiction novel written in the style of a diary. Turner did a wonderful job showing the progression in Sarah's spelling, punctuation, grammar, and most importantly, how she matured through the 20 years she wrote in her diary. I was able to feel the happiness, sadness, and anger Sarah went through! You were able to tell that Sarah and Jack were very much in love, and I was so, so sad with the ending! This book is good for readers who feel they are too old of the "Dear America" series, but still like reading historical fiction through a diary. I cannot wait until Nancy E. Turner's next novel! I recommend!
Rating: Summary: What a great transgenerational literature discovery Review: I am now buying my fourth copy for my very advanced 12 year old granddaughter to read. It is a shining moment in realism
Rating: Summary: Deserves far more than only five stars Review: This is one of the best works of historical fiction that I have ever read. The characters are so real - I feel as though I really knew Sarah. I learned so much about her times and surroundings and that is very important to me in the books I choose to read. Though the ending was bittersweet, overall the book left me feeling good and uplifted. I hope Nancy E. Turner writes more books along this line. She has a real talent for historical fiction.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely wonderful Review: This was one of the best books I have ever read.
Rating: Summary: A good laugh and a good cry Review: I loved this book. I laughed so hard at Sarah's experience with the bride's book. I cried at each trial and heartache. I learned more of her life, pioneer life. This is a great book.
Rating: Summary: The absolute best book I have ever read Review: I've done a rare thing here: I read the same book twice. And I will probably read it again later. This is a book I never wanted to end. Our heroine Sarah & her hero Jack will take you on a journey you will never forget. Throughout the joys and the pains of their life, they share a love to last for all time. You will laugh and you will cry and you will leave wanting more.
