Rating: Summary: A Must Read, Pure Enjoyment Review: I read TIMW with my book club and it is one of the few books that we all loved. I have since confidently recomended it to over a dozen people, all of whom have thanked me for the referral! The first two chapters start out slow because of the writing style but it is definetly memorable and rewarding. I rarely rate a book with five stars but this is worthy of the praise.
Rating: Summary: didn't like Review: I don't like books that deal with rape, even if the rest is well written.
Rating: Summary: This is a keeper! Review: If you love reading the words of someone who has lived it, i.e. a diary or journal, you are going to love Sarah Agnes Prine's journal. The twenty year span goes like lightning, and indeed, you won't want to put it down. Sarah's story from her adolescence to her widowhood make for great adventure, almost unbelievable, in fact. This is a rich story of a very strong woman, one who can do it all, both because she has to, and because she can. Sarah is a survivor, to say the least, and the spirited type of pioneer woman who forged the wilds of the West, specifically the Arizona Territories, in the late 1800's, facing life-threatening attacks from Indians, banditos, and evil outlaw thugs, as well as the worst that Mother Nature could deliver. This is a novel, but seems quite real, and Sarah and her romance with Jack Elliott fill the pages with hope and a love of life. Sarah's family and their ventures to settle the untamed territories, involve hard work, hard times, making the best of whatever befalls, and epitomize what people can accomplish with united determination. Nancy Turner certainly captures the West in vivid detail and makes one feel, that even a full century later, she has lived there for a while. Turner's first novel is a wonder. This book should be read and passed on, as its story and characters will certainly be kept in the mind of the reader for a long, long time.
Rating: Summary: ABSOLUTLEY LOVED IT!! Review: This is definatley one of my favorite books. I would read it again and reccomend it to all. The setting, the characters, and just the overall story plot was great and alwasy kept me wanting more. Her love for Captain Elliot grows through out the book, I love how she at first dislikes him, you get to watch the sparks betwwen the two blossom. Her and her children are great to watch grow up, the characters couldn't be more intriguing.
Rating: Summary: These is my Words Review: This book had been recommended, I ordered it. From the first page of Miss Prines Diary I was hooked. I couldn't wait to pick it up again. Never a boring moment. Every entry in this Diary was instantly transformed into a fascinating novel. This is a quick read that covered all the elements needed to keep a reader interested in the evolving relationship of Sarah and Captain Jack. Life was hard and survival was obtained only through one's commitment to handle everything that life forces on us. Captain Jack's stoic nature was transformed from notable mention to the central focus of Sarah's life. All heroic adventures were humbly retold by a young proud capable woman. This diary painted a portrait of a young girl's desire to educate herself while enduring the hardship of life on the prarie. Insight into the perseverence of the 19th century when men were dirty, dusty and uneducated conveyed Sarah's strength and resignation to adapt and protect her family. Women were valued and prized for their refinement not their heart. Sarah never realized how wonderful she really was. This book brought out a reason for humanity and the will and all that this can accomplish. Love and integrity were the core throughout this story. Captain Jack was able to recognize and love all that is special in Sarah and wise enough to wait for and eventually be loved by Sarah Prine. This book is a winner.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put it down! Review: Like an earlier reviewer, I, too, kept thinking this would make a terrific movie. By the middle of the book, I simply could not put it down--I woke up at 4:30 a.m. two mornings in a row to be able to read before work, and then kept thinking about it throughout the day. It also reminded me of another book, "Mrs. Mike", I loved as a teenager. Highly recommend both!
Rating: Summary: These Is My Words Review: I loved this book! It made me long for a simpler life and a loving relationship. I cried and laughed while reading this wonderful book. I hope Nancy E. Turner writes more about Sarah Agnes Prine's life. This book broke the stereotypes I had for romance novels. It is a clean book but yet it gives the reader just enough to think about. Arizona in the summer without air conditioning must have been painful!
Rating: Summary: I LOVE This Book!!! Review: This book was amazing! I wasn't sure what to expect at first, and had put off reading it for awhile, but once I finally got around to reading it I was truly amazed. I couldn't put it down, and was completely enthralled in Sarah's story. You *must* read this book! Keep a tissue or two handy, as you'll be so completely absorbed in the story that you'll more than likely need one.
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: Living in Arizona, what a wonderful book. With all the stress of today, this book takes you back to a time that is facinating..I loved the book, didn't want it to end. Curl up, open a bag of M&Ms and go back in time.
Rating: Summary: These is MY words Review: This novel in diary form is based on twenty years of Sarah Prine's life, starting when she is 18. She tells of her adventures she goes through, the romances she gets wrapped up in, and the tears and hardships she faces. I'm not really into love stories, but this one was impossible to put down. It is wonderful and I'd recommend it to any woman.
