Rating: Summary: The best book I've read in YEARS! Review: I, too, read the excerpt of this book in Good Housekeeping and could not wait to read it. Sarah was wonderful, as were all the characters, and I cried at the end. I cannot remember ever reading another book that I have so thoroughly enjoyed and hated to see end. Everyone should read "These Is My Words".
Rating: Summary: More, Ms. Turner, More!! Review: I Loved this book!!! I knew I would like it because of the cover-it really looks like an 1800's journal. But I wasn't prepared to care for the characters as much as I did-when Sarah was marrying Jimmy I kept on thinking: "No, no! He's a total loser!" I don't want to say too much about the book- I hope Oprah choses this book next year for one of books of the month! And Ms. Turner, what happens next??? Please write a sequel!!!
Rating: Summary: Funny, informative, and moving all at once Review: I couldn't put this book down. This novel reads so much like a real diary that you feel you are secretly seeing someone else's private thoughts and feelings. I enjoyed learning about frontier life...hard to believe only 100 years ago! And the characters were so honest and real. I read it so fast that I plan to read it again in the future to catch all the details.
Rating: Summary: Riveting and romantic Review: This is a wonderful, romantic, adventurous tale of the old west. My family and friends raved about it as well, and I have read and re-read it. I feel like Sarah is a friend of mine. Can't wait for Ms. Turners' next work.
Rating: Summary: Terrific book, wonderful characterization, beautiful format. Review: I read a review in USA Today and immediately called my bookstore to order "These is My Words." I was not disappointed. This is one of the most enjoyable and absorbing books I've ever read. I was totally taken with this delightful heroine. What a pleasure to listen to her words as she innocently reveals herself and grows from a teenager to a woman of real substance. The love story is beautiful. All the characters are well-developed and interesting. I wish Ms Turner had made the book twice as long. Unlike some who read this book quickly, I spent two weeks savoring it, one entry at a time. I look forward to the author's next book. This one is a winner. Why isn't it on the best-seller list yet?
Rating: Summary: One of my all-time favorites Review: "These is My Words" ranks way up there with "Lonesome Dove" as one of the best books I've ever read. It's authentic, moving, and captivating! The character development is wonderful, as are the depth of feeling and experiences described. Looking forward to Ms. Turner's next work.
Rating: Summary: What a wonderful story! Review: It's refreshing to read a story of such purity and strength in characterization. One could visualize the intellectual growth of Sarah as the story progressed. As her life became more complicated she found less time for her diary. Sarah reflects the women of that time period who were very brave, courageous, strong in moral character and defenders of family. Anyone would be proud to be a member of her family. Nancy Turner's style of writing makes the story so much more realistic.
Rating: Summary: Absolutely incredible! Review: This book consumed me! I could hardly think of anything else while I was reading it. I cried for almost an hour when I finished. This is one I'll read again and again!
Rating: Summary: A WONDERFUL Story! Review: This is a wonderful story that grabs you from the start. The characters are fully developed and interesting and you begin to care about every one of them. I, too, hated to see the book end and want to know more! My ancesters also explored the west along the Oregon Trail and wrote a diary so a story along this line has always fascinated me. Sarah's story is one not to be missed.
Rating: Summary: If you like Lonesome Dove you'll love this book! Review: My mom bought "These is my Words" for me because Ive read some of the Lonsome Dove book series I looked at the back and read a few words and decided I would like it. I finished the book today and I love this book it is amazing how much courage that Sarah Prine had. Im sure that if she were a real person that we would be the best of friends. I want to say to the author thank you for writing this book. I know that it will be a best seller. They should make this book into a movie!
