Rating: Summary: I absolutly loved this book. Review: A friend of mine gave me this book and said "You'll love it" and I did! I laughed and cried through the entire book. This book should really be made into a movie. It was wonderful!
Rating: Summary: Compelling reading - fascinating and well-written Review: I just happened to pick this book up at the library because I was intrigued by the title and the cover. What a find! As a transplanted Westerner, I loved learning about what it took to homestead in the Southwest. As a woman who has always enjoyed women's oral histories, I was absolutely captivated by Sarah. Her voice was strong and authentic. A terrific melding of fiction and historical fact.
Rating: Summary: Brilliant, moving saga Review: I found this in the new book section of our library and was intrigued by the title. This was one of the most wonderful books that I have read in a long time. It captured the spirit of settling an untame country without being sentimental or unrealistic. I loved the main character Sarah Prine, her courage and spirit and the relationship she had with Jack. I've recommended it to other friends who were equally enthralled with the book.
Rating: Summary: Wonderful Book! Review: This book is really wonderful! My husband and I loved it. It was wonderfully written and we look forward to another book by this author.
Rating: Summary: great book! Review: This is the best book I've read in a long time. It has a sense of history and realism. I like the aged look of the cover! Hope there is a sequel...I feel like I know the characters.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read recently! Review: I am 13 and at first I didn't think I'd like this book, because it's long, but it moves quickly, and is really captivating. I read most of this in an afternoon. The diary of Sarah, a woman living in the Arizona Territory in the late 1800s, really draws you in. I highly reccomend this book to teenagers who are good readers and pretty much anyone.
Rating: Summary: a rich story of innocence & love Review: I saw this in the library, never heard of it but was intrigued. It's now one of my favorites. The characters captured me and I couldn't put it down. A wonderful, heart-touching story, tears and all. Definately recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Totally Captivating Review: Once you start reading this book you cannot put it down. The story is written so ANYONE can understand it, and it becomes real as you read it. It is the best book I have read in years, and I cannot seem to get interested in anything since. I hope Nancy writes another book soon.
Rating: Summary: a surprising library pick-up Review: I saw this book on the library shelf with no dust jacket for months and finally checked it out. It's been a long time since I have cried while reading a book. Generally, the public is moved more by movies, but when a book can move you to tears the author has done her job. I liked Sarah as a person and she was not larger than life the way some characters are. Jack was not the perfect hero either. It didn't seem to bother him he wasn't home much. The only thing that bothered me about it was the Rhett Butler rip-off of Jack's dashing smile/expression. I'll be looking forward to Ms. Turner's next opus.
Rating: Summary: So wonderful!! Review: Since I read 3 -5 books per week, it's not often that I rave on and on, but with this book, I must. Don't wait for the paperback. I felt as thought I was living the story and I can't believe how attached I became to Sarah. It makes my all - time top 5 best reads. Run, do not walk , to your nearest bookstore. This book will remain in your heart.
