Rating: Summary: hilarious and inspiring Review: What a great book! My favorite character was Inside Skinny. "Hey Motty, I got da scoop, check dis out. Motty, Motty, ya gotta hear dis." This book made me laugh out loud at least ten times. Not to mention the fact that Schwartz is a top notch trader and his advice and general observations are right on the money. I could just imagine him having a radio show, he could be the trader version of Dr. Laura, telling the knuckleheads like it is and why ten percent take money from the other ninety. My personal trading style is nothing like Marty Schwartz's, but his guts and candor are an inspiration.
Rating: Summary: Informative and Enjoyable Book Review: In Pit Bull, you get an idea of how Marty Schwartz become a champion trader. He describes how he struggles before catching some breaks that have now made him into the millionaire trader he now is. Schwartz tries, and I think successfully, to teach the reader how to apply some of his formula to himself. Great book to have some fun with and learn at the same time.
Rating: Summary: Fun, interesting but not impressive Review: I dont know whether the style of the book is so light or what. It's not that impressive and you can easily forget what it attempts to teach. Definitely it's an entertaining book but it does not dwell on any one topic so intensely that you might just easily forgot what you had read just a day or two. However, it can be a good gift to your friend or colleague in case he/she just got a losing streak: Even the champion trader had taken nine years before he could make a living solely on his own trading.
Rating: Summary: Champion Trader! Review: This book is more of an autobiography than a "How to Trade" book. However, with this said it is a great book about a great trader. Marty tells you what he is thinking at different stages of his career and each is very different. The appendix is great also. It tells of the sources that he uses in his trading plus a breajk-down of his day which is superb. Again not a how to trade book but a great book about a trader.
Rating: Summary: Fun book Review: This is a story of one mans odyssey into the word of trading and his quest to succeed. Great story if u want to read about a lucky gambler.
Rating: Summary: Good read, entertaining Review: This is not a "know how" book -- it does not revert any of Matry's secret. Rather, it gave an account of how Marty transform from a stock analysis to a pit trader, a story of how a fundamental analyst changed to a technical analyst. It also illustrate Marty's quest to compete with the big boys - the fund manager like Soro's and the like, only to realise that it is a very different ball game. This book make a good weekend reading.
Rating: Summary: marty and the pitbull Review: Entertaining but short on helpful tips for traders. He has apparently taken great care not to give any methodological tips apart from broad guidelines. The guy is clearly very good. I would like to read a book where he gives specific methodologies with examples. Do his methods work in the current market ? How did he gain confidence in his methods since this was in the pre-system testing software days ! Since he has apparently taken 100 million out of the markets and his financial future and that of his family is secure. He should write the definitive book on short term trading...and upstage a similar book by Larry williams. How about it Mr Schwartz ? Summary An interesting read but only limited use to the budding trader. It falls short on trading specifics and the limited technical info is potentially misleading. I take off my hat to a master trader but write that ultimate trading book SO WE CAN TAKE OFF OUR HATS TO A MASTER TRADING AUTHOR
Rating: Summary: Great read Review: Martin "Buzzy" Schwartz bares his soul on the ups and downs he has encountered as a trader. Like the books "Market Wizards", I couldn't seem to put it down. If you are looking for the holy grail in technical analysis, look elsewhere. If you are looking for a very entertaining read about the trading life, this is the book for you. He gives you the emotions involved, along with some sound tidbits on money management. I trade in the markets for a living, and truly enjoyed his candor...you will too.
Rating: Summary: A egotist says "Look at me! I am great" Review: The title is deceiving. The book reveals little to the reader about how to be a better trader. It's a catchy title, but the real purpose of the book was to satisfy the immature ego of this admittedly great trader. For someone who had $ as his single target, he protests and cries aligator tears when the investors in his hedge fund pulled out because they were concerned about the safety of THEIR money. "They abandoned me"... like we're supposed to have sympathy on him because an illness prevented him from achieving his fantasy of being "the biggest and the best". He compares himself with George Soros! I hated this book because I couldn't get past my revulsion of the self-aggrandizing author.
Rating: Summary: FUN FUN FUN Review: If you've read "Reminiscences of a Stock Operator" and enjoyed it, you'll love this book. Most investment books are dry and tedious to read. This book with it's many anecdotes kept me laughing and engaged for a week - I'm a slow reader. It's Not a "how-to" which everyone wants but will probably never find. It's a true life account of a Market Wizard, his personality and his strugglies on his qwest to beat the markets. It's blunt, direct and very comical. I've read a lot of books on the market and the same theme for winning runs thru all, hard work and finding your niche. Read this book and enjoy it. Probably make for a great Robert Dinero movie. Thanks Buzzy!
