Summary: Self-serving political garbage.
Review: After forcing myself to stomach the absolutely horrid _Embrace the Serpent_, I sat down to read Marilyn Quayle's second attempt to butcher the English language and the public's perception of the Democratic party in one fell swoop. While she'll probably fail on the latter point (as she did in her earlier work), I will say that she succeeds brilliantly at the former in what is truly an affront to literature everywhere.

Unlike Tom Clancy, who wisely refuses to name political affiliations for his characters (although it's not too hard to guess what they are), Quayle paints every Republican in her works as a heroic, idealistic fighter for justice and freedom, while every Democrat is portrayed as bumbling, stupid, amoral (if not downright evil) and/or murderous, always placing political position and public perception above the lives of the people they are bound by oath to protect.

Clancy paints interesting characters; even his assumed-Democrat characters can just as fascinating, sympathetic, and heroic as their more conservative counterparts; Mrs. Quayle gives us nothing but cardboard cutouts and straw men.

This novel gets 1 star only because I can't give it a rating that's even lower.

Summary: interesting, but . . .
Review: Good action/"who dunnit"-type plot, but the "Republicans are good and the Democrats are evil" stuff got a tad dull. If I could pick a word to describe this book it is: "sanctimonious". I really don't like to be manipulated.

Summary: A great read!
Review: I got this book a few years ago not knowing anything about it & was surprised by how much fun it was to read. Although others have complianed about the Republicans being made out to be the good guys, I found that refreshing considering how the media has been taken over by the opposing view. Any closed-minded Democrat (who cannot imagine that some Democrats might be corrupt and that some Republicans might be genuinely concerned about the common folk) will hate this book. Anyone else, don't plan on reading this one in little bites; I couldn't put it down!

Summary: Equal to Alan Drury's Advise and Consent series
Review: I had just finished reading the Advise and Consent series by Alan Drury when my husband bought me this book. It kept me racing through the pages to see what was going to happen next. They gave some hints, but kept enough secrets to keep the suspense intense. I want them to write more! They proved that a clean novel can still be exciting and extremely relative to the current events in America.

Rating: 4 stars
Summary: Suspenseful and exciting
Review: I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book, especially knowing that Mrs. Quayle has the inside track on Washington. I had to laugh at the similarities between the POTUS in the book and our current President. The mysteries in the book kept me guessing about some things until the very end, and this was frustrating at times, but allowed for entertainment. I think most anyone would enjoy this book.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I thought this novel was awesome. My sister read it before I did and she highly recommended it. I read it. I could hardly put it down. It was edge of seat, what next. I read it in a week's time and I'm a slow reader that takes a couple of weeks for shorter books. It was great.

Summary: Awesome
Review: I was able to purchase this book at a bargain basement price, and had no idea what to expect. I was pleasantly surprised, as this was an exciting and thrilling book to read.

These two sisters collaborated to write a very readable book about a political campaign for senator. Maybe I am jaded, but seeing the levels to which some of our politicians have stooped recently, I found the tactics and plot to be all too believable. OK, so maybe the international spy angle is a bit much. And maybe an incumbent Senator would not have 'friends' with capabilities such as Bob Grant's friends possessed. But, these things, as well as all the other angles, combined to make this book fun to read and rather captivating. Besides, Marilyn Quayle does have some experience with campaigns personally - maybe these things are not as far-fetched as I might think. . .

Summary: Terrible dialogue, ludicrous plot.
Review: I was offended by this novel. Save your money and read Clancy instead
