Summary: A Must Read for all Marilyn Fans
Review: This book is the absoulute best book that explains what really happened in Marilyn's life from Norma Jean to America's Princess Marilyn Monroe to very TRUE & INTERESTING things about her UNFORTUNATE death. After reading this book my confirmations were made true, she did not kill herself. You have to read it and you too will see why I feel this way. It's a MUST HAVE!!!!!
Read about her doctors parts in her life, "that maid" her doctor Recommended even.... yes Eunice Murray.. read her part in MM's death as well.

Summary: This is a book any Marilyn Monroe fan should have. Superior
Review: This book should be read by any fan of well-documented - and entertaining - biographies. The detail with which Spoto depicts the life of one of the few true legends of our time is truly engrossing. The fact that he also dismisses some of the myths that have developed over the years - Marilyn's relationships with the Kennedys being a perfect example - is also refreshing. It's a cliche, but Spoto brings the goddess to life for the reader. One of the few books I wish I could give to all my friends.

Summary: Bah-humbug,baloney, and not much to ballyhoo about!
Review: This book steals(?), borrows, from previous biographers detailing the Birth, life and death of Marilyn Monroe. There are a lot of allegations, theories as to what "REALLY HAPPENED" to MM. I noticed a lot of reviewers seemed caught up in believing that this author backed up his theories, but check again boys and girls...It presents a very one-sided view of what Pat Newcomb allegedly told Donald Spoto, as well as the other interviewees sited. I checked out the claims made by this author at the Academy Library in Los Angeles, where he deposited his so-called interview tapes and the tapes tell the truth and that is NOT what is printed in this book. The first thing Pat Newcomb tells this author is "look, I was not Marilyn's best friend"....and goes on to not say much of anything. In all the interviews I listened to, it is Donald Spoto doing the talking while his interview subjects listen. The so-called documents proclaimed to be used in this book, never existed. Much of this was fabricated and never produced for review. Read any of the earlier books/bios on Marilyn and you will get a clearer picture of what she was really like. Many, many so called factual mistakes are made. Not worth the trouble.

Summary: Nothing Is Held Secret In This Book
Review: This is a wonderfully researched biography of the one and only Marilyn. Starting with Marilyn's great-grandparents, to her childhood, to her years as Norma Jeane, to her claim to fame, up until her last days and hours, this book has it all. With pages and pages of beautiful photos, a filmography, and a detailed investigation into her death, you will not want to put this book down. This book is a must to anyone interested in Marilyn Monroe's life.

Summary: marilyn monroe as a person
Review: this is an excellent book about the life of norma jeane and then marilyn monroe. it gives credit to her as a PERSON and WOMAN and it is not trashy at all. the book also goes into the psyche of MM which dispels many of the myths and explains the circumstances surrounding her life. i really enjoy donald spoto's work--i have also read his james dean book, rebel, which is very good. his style of writing is wonderful.

Summary: You will walk with Marilyn
Review: This is the most in-depth look at Miss Monroe's life from birth to death. The times and dates that Mr. Spoto was able to resurrect will amaze you, I have never seen so much detail in a book. Once I started reading it I could not put it down much to my wife's dismay. You will actually get to know Norma Jean and Marilyn as well as anyone in her life, a great read!

Summary: NOT JUST ANOTHER BOOK ON HER
Review: Yes i know, there are too many books on MARILYN and you won't want next year's calendar, but at least do you a favour and read this book because it is very well done. You learn of the most important thing in MARILYN's life:her insecurity ,that made her attractive to husbands who wanted to protect her but couldn't really help MARILYN to live her real life outside media trappings of all sorts.A sad life indeed for a woman who was the men's ideal fifties body.BILLY WILDER probably said it best when he confessed that making the two films with her was hell.
