Review: This book is more over based on the everyday lives of those who "thwart in human folly." Porter's style of writing is delicate and precise. If her style was a painting, it would be the Monalisa with all its graphics of language and detail.

Summary: Great writing, but.....
Review: while the ship moves along the ocean, the characters seem to stay in one place. There's no growth or development. Friends in my book club say that's the point--human nature doesn't change. Maybe so, but the message didn't change much between Page 1 and Page 498.
