Rating: Summary: Goes out with a whimper, but still sorry to see it all end. Review: Wheels within wheels within wheels is what Deighton's plots
amount to. His characters are numerous and well drawn as well as sympathetic. His methods of presentation are maddening - no characters ever speak directly to the point (it's reminiscent of a soap opera (Dallas?) and he constantly throws literally dozens of red herrings into the plot to confuse and lead the reader into dead ends.
But despite these above nigellings, I feel a sense of loss as the life and times of Bernard Sampson draws to a close in this, apparently the end of the saga of London Central. Good luck and godspeed Bernard.
