Rating: Summary: feast for the senses Review: Elizabeth Falconer writes charming books about women who stuck in a rut break free. She transports her readers to places of sensual delight - in this case the islands of Greece (others include Provence, Paris). The central character, broken hearted, voyages to a Greek island on impulse and finds uncomplicated love(of course). On the way (as in all her books) one can vicariously indulge in good food, wine, sunshine, art, beauty, and other sensual pleasures. Her characters have a certain "Mary Wesley"ness about them, and are concerned mainly with familial human relationships. Highly recommended escapist reading
Rating: Summary: I wish I was there! Review: I am a big fan of Elizabeth Falconer, and have eagerly awaited Amazon having her books available online. I have read Falconer's previous two books "The Golden Year" and "For the Love of Women", and enjoyed them immensely. Having visited Europe last year (1997) I now have a great love of anything which transports me back to this wonderous, exciting time in my life. The descriptions in her books are vivid, making me feel as if I am there. Read these books and you will also long to experience the lives of the characters and, indeed, visit the countries so beautifully written about.
