Summary: Lovely style
Review: This book of connected short stories is a superb example of the way writing can "set a mood." From the selection of the character's names to the pacing, everything contributes to the feeling she is trying to set. Although they have very different settings, it reminded me of Rick Bass' "Platte River" both because of the skill in writing and because they seem to strike the same emotional notes. Although she does have a few spots where she falters, this is a lovely book.
