Summary: You might not use a computer again!
Review: I can't think of a word to describe this book. It was simply incredible! Deaver has concocted a story so frightening that even the most die-hard computer nerd may think twice about touching a PC. With technology increasing at an alarming rate, and our dependence on the Internet swells, it's easy to believe that an unscrupulous individual could in fact, devise a way to infiltrate our lives through computers and then do away with us. The movie "The Net" broached this subject, but Deaver makes the film seem tame by comparison. I think I learned more about hacking from his novel than I could ever pick up from a computer manual. His attention to detail is astounding. The plot twists that are Deaver's trademark are there, especially at the end. I won't give anything away, but I thought it was superb. If you like computers and crime stories, you are sure to have a hard time putting this one down.

Summary: Gut-wrenching Suspense
Review: Once again Jeffry Deaver has penned a timely masterpiece of suspense. Page after page we are led through a series of murders that keep us guessing. No one can hold you captive quite as thoroughly as Deaver. His supurb use of action and dialogue turns each new book he offers readers into an immediate Best Seller. Beverly J Scott author of Righteous Revenge

Summary: Enjoyable throwaway from a writer capable of so much more...
Review: Having thoroughly enjoyed two earlier Deaver efforts, "The Bone Collector" and especially "The Coffin Dancer," I was looking forward to "The Blue Nowhere." Unfortunately, while this novel has some interesting ideas and scenes, it doesn't have nearly the shelf life of Deaver's better works. Deaver usually does twists well, and while a few of them work here, a few also misfire badly, and the climax feels more than a little rushed. This is a standalone book and thus doesn't feature Deaver's two best characters, Lincoln Rhyme and Amelia Sachs; you can almost feel the writer straining to interest himself in the characters here, but the same enthusiasm with which Deaver concocts the exploits of Rhyme and Sachs never makes it to these pages. "The Blue Nowhere" is a good diversion, but highly disposable; good for beach reading but I doubt you'll ever go back to it.

Summary: Intro to computing
Review: This book is OK and has a few twists which are standard in a suspense drama. The annoying thing is that the author gives any remotely technical word a large description. This is probably smart from his point of view since this allows the book to be readable to a wider audience, but if you know the basics about computer networks it gets tedious. I only picked it up because I wasn't smart enough to buy a book before going to the airport and I needed something to get me thru a 6 hour flight.

Summary: Jeffery Deaver's A Master
Review: The Blue Nowhere is a great thriller which involves computers and internet...I learned words being used in the computer language and how do hackers & crackers work...The conflict was unbelievable...The other critics were right,, you would NEVER guess who's the real enemy...And yes, the ending has a lot to say...In other words, it's a must-read! You guys should read this!

Summary: Blue "scream" of death
Review: This is a very entertaining book that really held my interest, despite some implausible lapses among the law enforcement characters. I'm into computers and the Internet and I work in the software industry. I noticed a few technical errors and dated terminology in the book, but I have known hackers and the main character was extremely believable. There are lots of twists and turns in the plot and I found myself looking forward to picking up this book whenever I had a spare moment.

Summary: WONDERFUL
Review: this book is a must-read book if you are really into computers, like me. Aside from the computer hacking, it has a good plot and is a good thriller. He does know what he's talking about, it's not just some chicken scratch in a book. Also what's cool is the fact that it's based near my home town so i recognize most of the sites that are in the book =)

Summary: For computer fans only
Review: I eagerly await this author's books, but this book was terrible unless your a computer junkie. Way too much computer information given which made the book almost unbearable to read. And as for all the plot twists, come on. Two or three would have been okay, but there must have been six or more. Never built the characters either, couldn't remember who was who.

Summary: Weaker Deaver
Review: This is the third book I have read by Deaver. While the others have been thoroughly entertaining, this one has been a bit of a disappointment. While still suspenseful and loaded with the twists that Deaver is good at, there are definite storytelling flaws in this book.

Deaver does not do a great job with characterization in this story. Beyond the two principal characters, most of the characters are rather weak. More grating is the amount of space that Deaver takes to explain computer concepts; while I understand that the jargon makes the story more realistic, he is unable to convey the meaning of the jargon in a smooth fashion. Instead, he is constantly having characters explain to other characters what certain terms mean.

Deaver has shown that he is a more skilled writer than he is in this work, but there is still enough entertainment value in this book to make it a decent but not great read.

Summary: Terrible
Review: If you eat sleep and dream of computers this may be OK for you, but if you are just an average user, this book is BAD. It is ALL about computers and hacking. The author did a lot of research and then strung it all together in a half way decent plot, but the computer "action" just drags it down. Don't waste your time.
